Classic WoW is set to totally overshadow modern WoW

Haha valid answer

But they never said they’d do it SEPARATELY.

Which worries me because Classic is supposed to be a museum.

Being able to redo content from vanilla all the way through the fall of the lich king would literally be the best thing ever

they did say we will see and im sure with the pull that the twitch streamers have it will get done.

I get that, but dont worry about it until you know. Enjoy the museum until closing time

The Twitch streamers don’t want it separate.

They want mandatory expansions or mandatory seasons.

To them, Classic is WoW 2.

That’s not at all what I am lol

I’m a dude who loves Classic.

The End.

lol more like 12 years. i got it while running a random LFD. lol totally by random. wasnt even thinking about it. and i won the roll. was a shocker cause my rng is usually lack luster.

I actually got Rivendare’s Deathcharger after six months.

I don’t expect to be that lucky again though.

I don’t think you have to worry about either. Mandatory season servers? LOL. Literally 0.0% chance of this happening. And mandatory expansion? I very much doubt it. Blizz didn’t give us Vanilla after 13 years only to have it last a couple years and then everyone is forced to move on.

most want a separate tbc server and a separate wrath server that you can copy your chrs to then lvl and keep your 60’s on classic.

this is what asmongold a top streamer with 100k views on a deadmines run wants as well.

Dude
they’re a corporation. They’re obligated to cut costs and save money.

You don’t think it even remotely possible they’ll avoid having expansions be separate just to save a buck?

Servers aren’t cheap, you know.

Then Asmongold is literally the most reasonable out of all the Classic streamers I watch.

Truth of the matter is, the poll option is going to be great to add into classic, but its a mute point to discuss it now. No one is interested in it, but in 4-5 years thaat will be different.

one guy came up with a good idea, though its alot of extra work for the devs: copy the entire character database over to the expacs and if the player wants to play their chars on the expacs they’ll be right there. since each expac would by necessity have its own version of vanilla, etc, your character would be in the same spot in the game, they were in before the expac arrived.

It keeps being brought up. Clearly “nobody is interested” is a lie.

I think they want their sub numbers back up. Having retail on top of vanilla, tbc, and wotlk would bring a sh*t ton if players back as well as keep live servers going. If they don’t do something quick, they are dead in the water. Classic is going to be way bigger than anyone imagined it would be.

I’d welcome this if I thought it had a chance in hell of happening.

A “Walled Garden” is a self-contained environment. It gets to be a little more complicated in the context of WoW in this case, but basically you have

  • Classic WoW
    • TBC
      • Wrath

Where Classic exists within its own set of “walls” where things can (semi)freely move from Classic to TBC, but not from TBC going back into Classic. Likewise for Classic or TBC Items moving to Wrath. The “Walls” protect what is within the garden, and only allow for items to move in one direction.

This is also where it can get messy, because you could be level 60 in Classic(with classic abilities), level 70 in TBC(with TBC abilities), and level 80 in Wrath(with Wrath abilities), and have it all be linked to the same character.

Although realistically, specifically with regards to Wrath, it’s more likely that it would only get linked with a “Classic+” and “TBC+” version of the game that allows pet/mount collections and achievements, because that potentially gets very messy otherwise.

Characters are a more complicated issue, because they can exist on all tiers/layers or just 1 or 2. I’d generally expect they’d limit Classic-tier/layer access to characters that leveled in Classic(+), ditto for TBC, and so on. (Obvuously if your character leveled in the prior version, you’re eligible for all three; unless you decide to skip TBC and go straight to Wrath for example. In which case if you want to run Black Temple as a 70 at some point down the line, you’re going to be repeating that level grind from 60 to 70 once more)

We’ll see.

I don’t think Classic will be that big, but I don’t think it’ll be unsuccessful either.
