Classic WoW is set to totally overshadow modern WoW

i like this idea.

also consider a 4th spec involving forms. since druids have various forms and as a result, you cant tell by looking how decked out they are in potential pvp scenarios, i think the other classes should have at least one form based on some race or npc ingame that we havent been able to play because creating 1-max level armor for them would be a huge time sink. example:

dryad and keeper of the glade form (female or male determines which) for druids under the 4th druid spec of fae. faery magic school added.

lich or banshee form (male or female determines which) for warlocks under the 4th spec of necromancer. specializes in undead val’kyre pets so as not to step on the toes of dks.

wizard form for mages. 4th spec is wizardry which gives the mage access to time based buffs for their other spell schools. the form looks like a monk in crossed legged floating position, similar to zen flight but without the flight part. think dr. strange.

ethereal form for rogues. just have to make a female version but they dont have to worry about armor since its a form, like if you ate savory deviant delight or noggenfogger elixir.

maybe ogre/vrykul form for warriors.
something like tyrael form from diablo, for paladins.
etc

its an expac idea for retail, utilizing the brilliance that is vanilla and mixed with some bells and whistles that is retail.

Devs already said TBC and WOTLK aren’t out of the question. How else would they implement it? I don’t see them adding the expansion to the classic servers. Independent servers is the only logical way to do it.

possible routes

1. only classic vanilla. the end.
2. only classic vanilla that reboots every 4 years.
3. classic vanilla with separate tbc and separate wotlk
4. classic vanilla progresses to wotlk, reboots after 3 years of wotlk
5. classic vanilla and a separate alternative classic+

I think 1, 3 and 5 are the most like. There may be some “niche” servers(or equivalents) they spin up in due time that do the “seasonal” thing which may run for months/years at a time, but that’s about it.

I really think there is going to be a Classic+ iteration though. It’s basically the only way they can fully leverage what Classic brings to the table. Retail cannot go back there again without major contortions happening in the process.

Exactly.

Adding expansions is a slippery slope and resettting everyone’s accounts back to 0 every few years… I don’t know a single person apart from Apocalypse who thinks that’s a good idea.

I for one didn’t abandon private servers for Classic just to see my future characters in danger of being deleted by Blizzard.

Where did i say they reset you to 0??? New servers for expansions should allow you to copy your previous version toons forward, but never backward. You keep your vanilla toons because they are on a separate server

only solution would be to not say its an expac of retail but just an enhanced classic, which will obviously, if enough like vanilla to pass the muster, and retail friendly enough to attract retail players, both types of players would enjoy it.

I’d like to believe that but I’ll believe it when they announce it.

If they announce expansions I’m putting my account on hold until they announce what their actual plans are. If they’re the plans I suspect they’ll have, I’m never coming back to WoW.

Mandatory expansions and mandatory seasonal servers are all that’ll keep me from playing.

I don’t think an every 3 year reset would be as bad as you think because you will be done with all the content and likely not playing anymore anyway
