Classic World PvP, who’s the best?

Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Spriest, Lock.

You can always lose to RNG, someone getting the jump, engineering, or consumables.

Goodluck.

So definitely not warriors, enhance shamans… and not Druids?

Well anything can work if you put in the effort with gear, engineering and potions but no those are generally not considered top tier.

I would say Druid is ahead of Enh/Warr tho. You have insane mobility and are super slippery. You can easily win war of attrition fights if people keep trying to chase you.

I was joking lol. But honestly there is no true top dog for a few reasons. Some people are better at some classes and in world pvp even then it’s situational. Pocket healers, grps, solo world pvp, all will have different people able to do different degrees of success.

Druids are great. HoTs, shapeshift out of most things, stealth, range spells, utility

Hunter is a great choice. But any other class is too. A definitive answer to your question doesn’t exist. If you “git gud” as they call it with any class, you’ll win a lot. If I were you, I’d play a hunter and get into it. Train a bunch of pets and enjoy all the options you have. If you do that I’m sure you’ll be a formidable force to be reckoned with!

Would probably say Mage, lock, rogue, druid are my top 4 picks. Priest (disc or spreist) and hunters would be close behind that tho. People write of disc priests too often lol. They have some decent dmg, utility and don’t gimp their heals with string bubbles. If you are running solo, idk, but more than 1 person in ur grp? Disc is super sexy.

Legend27 ofc !

What class would be the most dominant in world PvP if they had engineering and alchemy ?

Hhhhmmm solo? Rogue or mage most likely. Arguments could be made for others but imho A solo rogue out in the world can do a bunch of dmg. And mages have a bunch of CC. Couple that with eng and it is crazy. With groups of 2 or more roaming around? Druid would be my choice.

Your post inspired me to watch World of Roguecraft again. They’re brilliant. Completely biased and unfair, but that’s why they’re so good at telling a story.

Lol

I just can’t get through the idea of playing a rogue… yea cold blooded/evis is awesome and stealth is the greatest thing in WPVP next to mobility (Druid has both :P), but no cloak of shadows?
That just seems like a terrible experience haha

Chances are I’m not going to be ganked if I’m in stealth… but if I’m ganked as a rogue I’m probably dead… can’t be in stealth all the time and no opener/no cloak, I don’t know man…
I’d like to be able to take a hit and recover.

Then it sounds like a Druid is for you!

Between:

  • Vanish
  • Blind
  • Gouge
  • Sprint

It’s really hard to gank a Rogue and keep the initiative. Hunters are about the only class that can do it well because they can initiate a chain-CC from range and can flare.

Suggesting hunters are the best Wpvp class?

Not necessarily. Just that they can gank Rogues more easily than other classes. I’m sure Hunters can tell you who they get ganked by though.

Lol thanks guys for all the replies, this became an awesome post/discussion!

So basically I’ve learned what classes aren’t good … I’m looking at warriors and shamans, unless accompanied by a group.

So it’s kinda a toss up of rogue, hunter, lock, and Druid I guess (don’t really want to be a mage)…
is a pet a good thing in world PvP (locks/hunters) or a liability die to mobs and micro management needed?

TBH it’s really more the player than the class. It’s rock-paper-scissors for the most part. For example say warriors aren’t good but as a Rogue they’re probably one of the hardest classes to 1v1 (and probably one of the best overall in wPvP once they get geared). Just pick whatever class suits you and just becoming the best wPvP in that class.

I can vouch for locks sub 60 at least. Fear is just too good. Then on top of fear you have a pet for every match up, an extra pot, soul stone, drain life, and your damage comes from ranged instant casts. There is no class you can’t beat or that completely counters you and even when ganked you are just one fear away from fear chaining the ganker to death.

Their only downside in WPvP is that they aren’t very good at ganking since they have no mobility to help them keep up with most classes.

I agree with everything you said except this. This is true for demon/destro locks but not affliction. Coe is the only ranged and repeatable, instant cast snare. Its not great but it will stop runners and let you kite, especially when you take engineering/consumables. If all you want to do is gank take coe. Only a druid will escape you and even then it will be tough with all your stuns+death coil+fear+spam coe.
