The big difference here is that Classic doesn’t need to be a smashing success in order for it to be a profitable endeavor. The future of the IP isn’t riding on whether it keeps millions of subscribers, or if they only maintain a dedicated couple hundred thousand.
Classic is nice bonus money for Blizzard. Destiny was the cornerstone of whether Bungie lived or died.

When you started summoning a demon with a current demon out, it got a debuff called “summoning sickness” and was stunned for a short amount of time. I started playing a warlock in TBC after playing a mage in vanilla.
Nice. If blizzard were to add it without saying anything. 50% of people could use it and you would have no idea

Wod models confirmed?
I hope not…
Did you even play the demo?
WoD models are not coming.
It was a joke, just pointing out him using a wod model gif, he could have used a classic model gif instead… Disapointed

Meh. I think he raises a fair point. If you go by sales Destiny was a smashing success. It outsold vanilla wow in fact. What it didn’t do was maintain a playerbase over time. A huge percentage of players quit very quickly and never returned, which killed the game before it even had a chance to get going. I think that Classic wow will probably be similar (minus the sales part) - it will have a short lived spike of players who want to reminisce, then it’s playerbase will drop to a few hundred thousand if even that and stay there forever.
We all love reminiscing about how games used to be much better when we were young, especially games we have special memories playing with friends/family. That doesn’t translate into us wanting to play those games non-stop nowadays. They’re painful to look at, listen to, and in most respects to play. Sure there are diehard enthusaists, just like the tiny fraction of people who still play diablo 2, but it’s not going to be enough to call the game a ‘hit’. You’re kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
A few hundred thousand playing long-term is still a success, and a good chunk of those will be people not currently paying a sub.
It’s still an incredibly positive ROI.

Don,t forget about the people that still have a sub, but are not to happy with the current game.
And do not unsub due to switching to Classic.
It would not surprise me one bit, iff thats a nice number off people as well

Agreed - it’s just not really possible to get an accurate estimate of them.
If retail’s numbers are as low as some people have said I wouldn’t be surprised to see Classic on par with retail in terms of pop.
All aboard the hype train i guess
It’s March already guys… BETA is looming! WOOT!
Your guild link and achievement point numbers are in blue text, and it’s bothering me.

I’m still subbed until April but it’s cancelled. I don’t plan to renew until Classic is out.
I was so sure that we are getting news this week, the repinning sure is a setback! This waiting is a rollercoaster of emotions.
