Classic TBC

I really enjoy Classic WoW without the expansions but since day 1 I keep thinking of when I started in TBC. I so badly want to experience TBC once again after classic.

I’m slightly worried WoW wouldn’t do TBC because of splitting the game into 3 instead of 2. Can anyone give me a reality check on the idea of Classic TBC? Do you assume they will do it? Do you think they won’t do it?

I want to go to Outlands again D: I really hope that I get to bring my characters from Classic WoW to a seperate server for Burning Crusade. I hope it happens. I really want this

The best way to do it would be to release TBC servers and give people the option of copying their classic char to them

Because it’s a copy, the person could still continue to play on the vanilla classic server as long as they’d like, and/or progress their char on the TBC server. This is also the way to make the fewest people upset, because having a permanently vanilla server or a server that the people vote to progress to TBC is still going to piss off a good chunk of people

The problem with copying a character would be abusing that for gold/items. Say you have several friends who don’t want TBC but you do. They can lend their gold to you, you transfer, then give it back on classic. You are now super loaded and they lost nothing in Classic.

Gonna need to account for many things if they do a copy system.

Also TBC server is the most likely option over the Classic+ push which think is not gonna happen.

Most likely they’d launch a fresh set of servers and possibly offer a one way transfer for players from classic to burning.

As to splitting the player base I got a couple thoughts on that:

  • No one cared how launching classic would impact retail so why should enthusiasts of the various expansions care about the effect on classic?
  • Many of the people who supported classic did so as a path to the expansions.
  • There are players who didn’t come back for classic that might for wrath and Burning since those eras had higher sub count then classic (fully 50% more at the end of wrath)
  • The staff at blizzard are committed to maintaining classic servers indefinitely.

Considering one of the main reasons they did Classic was to give people access to content no longer in the game. meanwhile Outland is still in retail .

TBC servers are a pipe dream

New servers, all good, fill your boots.

Don’t touch the original servers.

The zone still exists but the mechanics associated with it (proffesions, talents, gear, spells, races ect) are a far cry from what they were 12 years ago.

People said the same thing about Classic; that a bunch of people were being whiny hipsters who had no idea what they were asking for.

Under no circumstances would I want the classic servers altered; Not by upgrading the current servers to patch 2.0 and not by doing some bizzare frankenstein monstrosity that is classic+

Can’t take gold then. I mean there’s ways to keep it from being too abused. I still believe its the best option. I will eventually quit playing on classic if I feel that there is never going to be a TBC server, and I’d also quit if I had to re-roll that 60 grind again on a fresh TBC server (maybe it wouldn’t be so daunting by then though lol cause that would be a ways out). I imagine there’s a decent amount of people who feel the same way

The majority of the content is still in the game tho unlike Classic.

For OP’s question:

With retail dying, they will need to keep this boat afloat somehow, and classic content will get stale after a few years (see many many many threads already about how bored people are at cap and some are even angry about it LULZ). I can see TBc, even LK servers, because WoW had steady growth all throughout BC and was at its peak popularity in LK.

But I disagree with this:

IMO you should have to make the choice whether you want to progress or not via a free server transfer and if you do you cannot come back.

IMO copy character destroys any sense of immersion into the game because now you just have the same guy twice, one who hangs at 60 and the other who is progressing. So you just copy your gold, items, everything, and take it with you to a new server, but that same amount of gold, items, etc, remains behind as well? C’mon man. It would actually upset me if they chose to go that path, regardless how irrational that may seem.

Choose to either progress your toon to BC or hang in classic, but not both.

Classic servers remain alive for those who want to stay in vanilla, BC servers are there for those who want to progress. If you progress and down the line wanna go back to vanilla? Make a new toon.

The zones, quests, mobs, and loot are there.

The mechanics to interact with them properly aren’t.

That’s the majority of the content. go enjoy it if you want to.

Except you can’t; Characters don’t work the way they did in TBC, Hell many of the stats that existed at the time aren’t even in game anymore.

Further due to the way XP works you’ll level out of it much faster then when it was current, and theres no way your going to see what the heroics or raids were like due to the impossibility of finding groups.

Your post is about as absurd as someone from retail telling classic players that kalimdor and the eastern kingdoms are still there so what are you complaining about?

You are playing WoW classic right now and you still hold this opinion…

I honestly don’t think it gets much worse than this.

And WoW classic isn’t because?

I’m not gonna lie, I look at your character and your name and All I can see is a very angry Santa Claus.

I feel like they could pull off character transfers if they just made it where you only copy your character 1. You only can transfer a little amount of gold 2. You only transfer with a hearthstone in your bags. Then we can keep our gear and play both classic and tbc with no harm.

NGL people having opinions like “Go play TBC on retail” while simultaneously playing on a game that was given the same kind of adversity does make me one angry santa claus.

Yes please, I’m super looking forward to TBC . I would like to do a full cycle of classic first though.
