Classic TBC Servers down with no notice, again!

How does something like this take several hours longer than expected? Like, when you guys looked at the problem initially, did you say, “ah man, this is going to take all day!” and then just continued to push the ETA back one hour with every new hour? Or did you look at a 9 hour problem and say, “no problem, we can do this in an hour,” and then at the end of the hour, after making barely a dent in the workload, you say, “one more hour should do it?”

But then y’all will complain because there’s no one to communicate, lol.

It’s a bad policy to not share info with customers. We’re not mad at the individual employees, but with the trash way the company treats us as customers.

You sound like someone who is coming to the CS forums for the first time and has zero clue how helpful Vrak is currently and has been for many years now.

You’re absolutely clueless.

Same goes for you. Trash talking one of a handful of blues who unequivocally do not deserve it, even after he delivered exactly what we had been asking for.

Translation: Our intern used the command “DROP TABLE players;” on our classic TBC database instead of the database holding players eligible for copy to classic era realms. The good news is that now everyone gets FRESH servers(because we lost all your characters).

Yo, my man blizz, all is forgiven, just give me a quick 100% xp boost yeah? Appreciate it

Would have been nice to know this when it first went down, Could have gotten a lot done today had we have just known it was going to take the whole day…

Not when you made that post it wasnt. Point still stands.

I get the frustration when people want to play but this rabble rabble grab the putchforks kill the messenger stuff is insane.

Bad excuse. Doesnt take a company like this to take 6 hours to explain to their customers, but they keep defending blizzard you shill.

All I keep seeing is how trash the blizzard is, how trash WoW is. Yet you all still pay the 15 a month to play when it has been the same way for years. If you hate it so much uninstall and cancel your subscription and save us all the grief.

That’s why we should roast the engineers who can’t solve this problem in a timely manner.

Didnt deliver anything of importance. keep riding them on the forums itll get you far. 700 posts.

Yeah, that’s a good way to make sure it gets back up.

Beatings will continue until morale improves, amirite?

If it gets results…

You know, whatever the reasons, and we all know things happen, I do appreciate the update and some communication. Thank you.

Unfortunately, as we all know, communication isn’t one off the company’s strong points (aka terrible) but it’s just so important. Even bad news is better accepted just with information.

Maybe communicate that to the classic dev team so they can tell their user base a little more detail about what is going on for the coming weeks

So it was scheduled yesterday for today on your end after the Tuesday maintenance. That makes it ‘scheduled maintenance’. Okay. the minimum definition is met, and it probably helps with the fine print if it was scheduled to avoid needing to give compensation for something unscheduled.

From the player perspective however, just because it was planned the day before does not mean ‘scheduled’. Tuesdays are scheduled maintenance. Players have had years to plan around this schedule. Wednesday doing emergency repairs caused by Tuesday’s maintenance is not what we understand to be ‘scheduled’, but rather ‘emergency’. Therefore the news update appears dishonest.

I know for me, when servers go offline with little to no warning for a ‘scheduled’ maintenance that was clearly unscheduled I am far less forgiving than if it was simply admitting something went wrong and needs to be fixed. What happened today felt like getting lied to and was only made worse being told all day that the end was right around the corner, when clearly it was not.

tldr: even if its ‘scheduled’ the day before, saying ‘scheduled’ last minute on the client’s news ticker looks dishonest and upsets players.
