The irony is you think players will do the in-game parallel and gear up on D2 to run MC. :)
I'm 100% sure people will run UBRS/Strat/Scholo at launch and if tier .5 is available I am 100% sure they will acquire it. It takes a long time to gear up a raid in MC, people aren't just going to chill out and not replace their gear because they're clearing MC every week.
How come all your posts on this forum are so wrong? Like you're misuing the word irony here. Don't use words if you don't know their meaning.
That guy put a lot of effort into his well thought out points, and you pretty much insult him by not only not reading it, but bashing him for being thorough. Damn dude.
If he put effort into his posts, he'd make them readable. No one is interested in reading essays about tier .5, especially if the thesis is "Tier .5 is a secret PvP set."
Did you actually get your D2 set while in Vanilla?
I seriously doubt it at this point. Even the OP admits she did it for fun only after she was already raid geared and only did the first couple (the BOE pieces) on her alt. It's pretty clear who did and who did not complete the upgrade quests.
1. I got 4/8 as I posted earlier in this thread. Try to keep up.
2. I played Vanilla and TBC and I had max level characters in Vanilla and TBC.
3. I am in no way obligated to read every single post in a thread in order to respond to the thread.

Must have missed it.
Finishing the 3rd set of quests would have gotten you 6/8. I doubt you did any of it at this point in the discussion.
part 1 was Bracers
part 2 was Belt and Gloves
part 3 was Pants, Shoulders, and Boots
Assuming you DID get to and accomplish part 3 (6/8), you still did not do the 45 minute Baron run, or everything leading up to [Mea Culpa, Lord Valthalak]

Forum troll everyone, ignore and move on.
Added later in the game - adding it early trivializes earlier encounters
This stuff was designed for the people who wanted solid PvP gear without having to put up with the enormous time sink of Rank 13 or Tier 2.5 from AQ40. I actually plan to run a couple of alts that will mix and match the Dungeon 2 Set with the Rank 10 PvP Set, as the set bonuses and stats complement each other really well. Think outside the box!
I think the gear should be in at launch.
You're an idiot if you think the 0.5 set didn't include some of the best pve gear available comparable with late BWL gear.
For all I know that entire post is agreeing with me.
There's a zero percent chance it's worth my time to read a !@#$ing treatise on "The place occupied by tier .5 in the Vanilla WoW tier continuum."
If you're not interested in reading interesting, well-phrased posts, why are you on this forum?

We disagree on the meaning of "interesting" and "well-phrased."

Not even getting into certain set pieces which are just outright ridiculous like beastmaster's boots, deathmist wraps, and
most of the warrior's set.

Comparable to which late BWL items?

If you are refusing to read it, based solely on its length, is length the only basis on which you are judging the post?
If so, what makes you believe that length is the sole determinant of whether or not a post is worth reading?

Yeah, I consider them comparable when it's a 5 spell damage difference and some petty intellect.
40 man raid boss you get a shot at once a week versus 10 man boss you can farm.
Don't be naive now.

I read his first post and determined the others were not worth reading.

Hey look. An intelligent person.
The idea that "because MC gear is better" no one will bother with tier .5 is ridiculous.

You mean farm a 10 man raid for something like, I don't know:
