Classic Servers getting free character transfers, but where is mine from a DEAD realm on retail?

Unfortunately for you not enough players are playing BFA or even were playing BFA at the start to make something like this necessary, Sorry

Do you think a critic could be accurate without first hand experience?

The above it true. It is also true that you choose to be on a highly populated classic server.

Classic has like 10% of the servers that retail has.

That’s nice, but I was making a point about how the person thought Classic had more people playing than Retail, Retail still has 20 servers at full, a bunch at high and a TON at medium.

Uhhh… this is entirely your opinion. And honestly, an unpopular one.

Free transfers have always been from high to low…not the other way around.

We’re just study partners btw

This is a weird thing, about retail:

They used to honestly do this, even back when they DID have paid transfers.

For instance, my transfer from OFF crowded Blackhand, to new transfer server Baelgun, was free. I also seem to remember them consolidating undercrowded servers?

It is weird they don’t do that, or they stopped when they added “connected” realms? But it isn’t really the same, since I don’t think you can trade gold or junk?

Personally think they should allow people to transfer to any of the new servers, not specific ones. :woman_shrugging:

I myself quite like the idea of free character transfers.

So why did you guys all roll on the same realm exactly?

Not necessarily. I chose my server the first day they opened name creation. There was zero possible way to know how many others would end up choosing the same server.

I wouldn’t mind paying up so much if Blizzard’s ‘services’ weren’t FOUR TIMES the cost of the competition.

That’s what makes it ridiculous - the amount of money you have to pony up just to play the characters you like, again, in any reasonable manner…

And please, nobody give me the ‘it’s a deterrent!’ schtick - hasn’t stopped us from having wildly overpopulated realms with unbalanced factions. If they wanted to limit us using them, they’d reinstate the transfer limit they already had.

The only reason they could possibly be priced so high is to prey on people who feel like they need them.

True. But, after days and days of long queues you choose to remain on the same server.

I first chose Pagel and didn’t get to play for days due to queues. So, I picked a different server and lost one of my three names as a consequence, but get to play nearly at will.

If we are going to go that route though… we all choose to be on the server we are on whether it be high pop or low pop.

That’s a little aside from the original topic though as nothing is being done on Classic that wasn’t done on Retail as well… it’s just been unnecessary for the past several years.

I get your point. A high population, long queue realm is worse than a low population realm. Not getting to play at all is worse than playing alone.

But I was responding to someone whose comeback was “you stay on a low pop realm by choice”. My reply is that all server CHOICE is by choice.

Ah, I admit I skimmed and your “you chose to be on…” caught my eye. But yes, we are all making the choice to be where are. Definitely understand the free transfers though since it’s impacting a collective rather than just us as individuals. I feel for the OP, genuinely, but they are going to have to pony up (or make some gold for Bnet cash) to transfer until if/when Blizzard consolidates (unlikely) or does a few more rounds of server links (hopefully).

Too true…more connected realms wouldn’t make me mad though. Or full connection regardless of realm and MAYBE faction for instanced content would tickle me pink.

I’d want a redesign of the AH before a full connection. Opening the AH takes about 10 minutes at the beginning of expansion on my server because of clutter… adding even more to that would be… bad, lol.
