or pay $25 to move. It also isn’t blizzes fault your server died while others thrived… No one is keeping you there but yourself. You can move your main or you can make a new one dude
They don’t have a paid option to transfer, you do plus you have free boosts with each expansion which you could just use to gradually get yourself on another server for minimal effort.
When you have a 4 hour queue time to get into the game maybe blizzard will offer you a free transfer. You actually have things backwards as to why they are doing this - it isn’t because the servers are dead, it is because people are unsubbing because they can’t get into the game to even play.
All the servers were at high capacity due to Blizzard’s poor planning, probably because they doubted anyone would actually play it, these are the consequences.
Like others have said, it’s to move players away from overpopulated realms, not to move them away from underpopulated ones.
There were only a small number of choices on where to go days before launch. Blizzard underestimated demand and those choices got slammed. Everytime new servers were opened those got slammed too. Some of us relocated 3 and 4 times. It wasn’t our fault. We got pigeon holed.
The people on the full servers made toons on what was available to them at the time. How can you possibly blame them for that? I’m lucky in that I didn’t create a character until a week after Classic’s release because RL got in the way. Otherwise, I would be in the same boat. There were medium pop servers available, so I eagerly rolled on one.
You all seem to be missing what the problem actually is, it’s how Blizzard jumps into action to fix some server problems for Classic, while retail is ignored. Moving my character doesn’t SOLVE ANYTHING, it makes the problem worse, just another player not on that dead server. Now, I had no control over my server dying, yet the only way for me to fix the problem is to spend money, and it gets progressively worse if you want to move more than one character. Why is this problem continually swept under the rug and ignored, yet people who chose to roll on full realms in Classic, not all of them I’m sure but a good number, get to move characters for free. It doesn’t matter that Blizzard has never offered transfers from low pop realms, that’s just one solution that could be done. However you know what they have done, is merged servers, and that hasn’t been done in a long while. It grinds my gears that Retail is being ignored in favor of Classic that isn’t and hasn’t been financially supporting the game.
In there eyes every server transfer is profit. Its why microtransactions are always posion. Solutions to problems should never be monetized.
In classics case its from them losing subs from people not being able to play.
That’s not true. Retail has more full/high servers than classic and it also has multitudes more medium and low servers. Classic is doing well but its still a fraction of retail
Go look it up yourself
whats it matter you have xrealm in retail no need for transfers. you can play with whoever you want.
It’s legit because the servers are so full that people simply cannot log in at times without having to wait for hours when a slot opens up. Your problem is that you unfortunaly are stuck on a realm that died for whatever reason, which blizz will not aid with seeing as a “dead” server could be defined a multiude of ways by people that may want a free xfer.
Your just going to have to accept that you are going to have to pony up the money if you want to transfer, or do the free thing and restart on a new server. You could also try and bank enough gold in order to buy a couple token’s to pay for it as well, there’s more than one way to solve your issue.
Insecure much?
No just replying with actual facts vs what he thinks is reality, thanks for trying though.
i played same server since 2008 (Thunderlord)
it died many years ago
but i held out hoping for a free xfer
it never came, i just accepted it and paid gold to move (Stormrage)
is what it is haha
suk it up OP and pay the gold like the rest of us
Activision Blizzard wants you to pay to fix the problems they created.
I don’t think anyone should have to pay, I don’t want to be special. Honestly server transfers probably are entirely automated and require no effort on Blizzard to complete so why should we. I was on Twisting Nether since 2004 and I just transferred to Stormrage also, but that isn’t solving the base problem.
