just wondering what people think. CC is so important in dungeons
CC is really important in dungeons. A lot of the time, people will bring classes like rogues and mages specifically for sap and polymorph. Some pulls can get dangerous without CC, especially early on.
soooo… yes?
I would have to see the talent to know for sure. I never rolled rogue. Im just speaking from a general point of view.
That really depends on if you and some friends are going to hit up dungeons and how often. If you are I strongly recommend getting it, if not then its not a huge deal.
You will do dungeons.
You will be expected to sap.
Be useful.
I vote yes get it asap.
Signed,
Your friendly dungeon healer
(It’s also handy when questing)
Id say grab it asap. Its mandatory for 90%of dungeons especially if there is no mage.
Its not bad for leveling as well, you can avoid a mob patrol or use it to better your chances of killing a pack.
It would require 18 points in Subtlety to get the Improved Sap. That’s pretty deep in the tree. Not a lot of wiggle room left. If you went straight for it, you’d be lvl 27 before getting it.
Keep in mind it’s still not guaranteed to go back to stealth, after the sap, a 90% chance. Subtlety has a good bit of these probability talents: a real gambler’s tree.
this pretty much. Dungeons are really important because the loot is usually well beyond what you can get reasonably as a random mob drop or quest reward. Greens are pretty uncommon, so dungeons and quests are usually the only reliable ways you can get better gear.
If you play rogue you will be expected to sap. Mages will be expected to bring poly and mage food ect.
CC isn’t important in the lowbie dungeons. Never saw any group use CC in beta up through SM.
I wouldn’t get full improved SAP until level 32, so it’s kind of perfect for the start of SM
that really depends on the skill of the tank and healer though. Even if thats true and having CC isn’t necessesary, it does make your tank and healers job a lot easier. You have to remember also that espically early on, Healers dont really have a lot of mana, and they go through it quiiiiiiiiiiiiiick.
So the consensus is… be a useful party member, get sap
Short answer. Yes.
Medium answer - Do whatever you want and if you do not have imp sap no one is going to kick you for it.
Long answer - Same as medium but add in that if you tell people you have imp sap you will find groups faster… I use to play rogue in vanilla and I did have imp sap.
depends on how you want to level up. If you go combat, then nope don’t worry about it. and I wouldn’t worry about imp sap till you hit 60.
Protip: leveling up combat is best spec.
Well let me say this. A lot of people were complaining about lowbie instances being too easy. They were saying Blizzard didn’t get it right. I personally think it’s just the version they are using (1.12). Thats near the end of Vanilla and a lot of stuff got nerfed along the way.
The point of all this, my instances were kinda like horror shows. Mobs all over the place, people attacking different targets, no one using cc or breaking it if someone tried… but like… no one ever died either.
Personally, I say go combat and dish out the damage. We move pretty quick these days with a good group. Plus, you would be much better off with other talents for soloing.
At the end of the day though, it’s your call. Pick the talents for the play style you desire.
“these days” isn’t classic though. I was 60 when this patch first hit but I remember SM dungeons and needing to sheep and sap.
I do plan on playing with a group a lot so dungeons will be common
If your main focus is dungoens, go 31 points into combat, you ll not be taken to sap things. Your job will be to kill things. Leave the cc to mages. If you need to sap anything you can always sap then vanish.
Damage is your main job.
