Classic Rogue. worth going improved sap asap?

you can go combat and not even worry about it. improved sap will randomly get you killed sometimes too since its not 100%

combat is better for soloing and better for dps in dungeons.

The fastest you can get Improved sap topped out would be level 27, pretty early on in the leveling process and in the meantime your leveling will be slightly slowed by working so deep into the Sub tree. It comes down to personal preference.

The subtree will give you better stealth and access to a better opener but when leveling sometimes its nice to just smash face.

These dungeons are faceroll dont bother getting imp sap its a waste.

dont really need to get imp sap just have it so Sap is the last of the CC your group uses ie make sure the mage has poly’ed and the hunter has the trap set up and once you sap your tank can pick up any mobs that aggro onto you.

Dungeons yes. World content not as much, but it helps.

I would go 2 points into MoD and then leave the sub tree. Sap is such a limited CC it’s not worth going deep sub tree unless you were going for a hemo build. Keep your reagents stocked. Even with imp sap you will be doing some vanishing.

I would also not ask someone to go 18 points into a talent tree they wouldn’t be in just for one situational CC.

Not needed. Any good tank can pull Sap aggro off of you with Demo Shout or some other abilities as you run back to the group. You’ll be gimping yourself heavily by going that route for leveling.

Doesn’t matter, the warlock is going to rain of fire everything anyways.

if you have the rogue sap as the last cc and have the tank pull the rest you will not need the talent. It does not allow an opener unless u vanish.

Yeah, that’s a lot of points to get to Sap, I’d say just have the tank start the pull at the same time you sap.

Ooo I was sure this would say Hunter and multi shot instead of Warlock.

Nope
leveled a rogue in vanilla and 3 on pservers, did combat swords all the way with very few in sub and rest in sin, iirc. Even in raiding UBRS its not really detrimental to the group and even at 90% chance to stay stealth your stealth broke quite often.

NOT worth it.

I had a 60 rogue in vanilla. Trust me, good groups don’t need this. You are far more beneficial to groups to kill things quickly. This is the real benefit of bringing a rogue along, not for sap.

Once you get distract, you can sap one mob and gouge another, later levels throw in a blind somewhere and if you’re feeling extra scared pop evasion.

Yes CC is important, but this talent is not especially while leveling. Mostly because of where it is 18 points in subtlety. That being said if you wanna level as Subtlety absolutely pick it up. But Combat is the typical leveling build so 18 points just to have a 90% chance to return to stealth is way too much of an investment. You will still be able to sap without it, you just need to coordinate the pull better.

Keeping your lockpicking up to date is much more important than imp sap in sub 60 dungeons.

No.

As someone who played vanilla, I had an experience when a rogue attempted a sap, broke stealth, and was instagibbed by the mob group.

I’d say it’s better, generally, to spec as you want, but I don’t bring a rogue to a group for CC, I bring him for lockpicking and damage.

Combat Daggers ftw. Improved sap is not neccessary.

CC isn’t as important in dungeons as people make it out to be.

If anything, it trivializes the trash pulls rather than switch them from unkillable to killable.

It’s a Pvp-centric talent, not worth getting it for dungeons. Imp Sap is a big investment into subtlety so you’re losing out in damage in other trees. If you need to sap in a dungeon, just sap->vanish.
