Classic PvP Content Plan

there is also the issue with being able to have multiple wow accounts on one bnet, so it’s a form of account sharing

The Honorless Target buff was added in patch 1.4.

So camping flight paths to kill people who just landed gets you exactly zero honor.

Are you saying you’re worried pvp will happen on a pvp server? Deal with it. That’s what players did back during Vanilla.

1.12 AV is absolutely garbage. Change it. I’d use spicier language if not for these stupid profanity filters. 1.12 AV is G A R B A G E.

The moment you realize classic isn’t for you.

Which is fine… I am sure some people are going to love this.

Here is my issue with it.

First, when a lot of this content was added, I already outgeared it. There wasn’t a whole lot of motivation to grind reputation in AB or WSG or AV when you already had better gear. Since vanilla was evolving at this stage (originally) these pieces were added to bridge the gap from going from crap blue dungeon gear… straight to epics. So when they were added, they were added for people had not ALREADY leveled up or were still in the process of hitting level cap. I find it interesting that even working on a project 15 years old, you still don’t have a grasp on your own game.

Second, you calling it phases, doesn’t actually change the meaning from gated content. Again when ZG released much if it was side grades to gear already obtained. If you had the opportunity to go back and re-release content. ZG would have been a better fit slightly before MC, and then having MC overlapping ZG to make it more relevant.

Creating phases to mimic unfinished content is a poor design choice imo. Honor system wasn’t added in the beginning because Blizzard thought the game would be better served to release it in phases… it just flat out wasn’t finished yet. The game was released incomplete… which is fine. Most people still hadn’t hit level cap by the time honor system became a reality.

Then to top it all off… everything else gets 1.12 treatment? Nope sorry, the handful of classes that got their class review earlier in vanilla’s life span were better off than those who got their review later in it’s lifespan. It also greatly effected how content was completed.

So now it just feels like you’re picking and choosing what should remain untouched and what shouldn’t.

Lastly, keeping the ranking system unchanged is a mistake. There are/were issues with it. If there weren’t why did it change? There are multiple high warlords, and grand marshals that have openly admitted to account sharing between 2 or more people for the sole purpose of continuous non-stop play to maintain rank. Individuals who abused the system and used it as a money making scheme and would only sit out to allow for someone else to obtain the rank if they were paid to do so.

This bastardized version of the game is not something I am now interested in. Again, that is fine it wasn’t ever going to be for everyone. Just speaking my truth.

You don’t get honorless target for taking a flight path. Only for changing instances. Taking zeppelin e.g.

Honorless Target - Players who just land from a gryphon/wyvern, or step out of an instance will gain this buff for 30 seconds during which this target will give no contribution points if killed. This was originally implemented in the previous patch, but was kept invisible.

You do, indeed, get it for taking a flight path.

Ah well then. Something private servers get wrong.

Happy to be wrong :+1:

Maybe. Maybe not. I’m not really sure what all it can track. I just know it’s surprisingly good at finding exploiters.

Well, that’s certainly disappointing.

I absolutely love battlegrounds, and expect them to be the majority of what I do in Classic. But, like most people, I have no interest whatsoever in “open world pvp” (aka, “harassing people who are just trying to farm herbs or whatever”).

It may be worth remembering that the original servers were labeled, quite correctly, as “PVP” versus “Normal.” I get that there are some people very passionate about enjoying open-world, non-consensual pvp. But they represent a tiny minority even of people who enjoy pvp, and it’s disappointing to see that most of us will have no pvp content available at all until 3-4 indefinite phases down the line.

This release schedule is feeling more and more like I should wait until phase 3 or 4 before even bothering to reactivate my subscription.

More concerned about BFA dad gamers upset they cant level and quitting. Rankers will literally murder servers.

Trust me I will be long past STV by the time the honor system gets out.

Does anyone actually want to do the grind to Rank 14 again, if they did it before?
I did it when I was 19, I had no school or a job.

Would it be a bad thing if decay rates changed?

The point is actually enjoying playing the battlegrounds. The rewards are good to provide additional progression, especially for people who only pvp. But actually playing is the real point, not just something to hold your nose and get through until you can stop.

1.12 gear is looking like more and more of an issue every day. I like the idea of a period with PVP rewards and no BGs, but the fact that for all of p2 the best way to get BIS gear for most specs will be to form a gank raid and slay people in EPL for 16 hours a day. Please consider progressive itemization, the community has already compiled most of the data you need on itemization.info

How do people feel about a system that gives incentive to kill people your level for honour? For example, killing level 60s has no honour decay on kills as a level 60 - but killing people lower than level 58 (up for debate) gives no honour.

Realistically, lower levels will be targeted without a doubt with this system during phase 2. In my opinion, this defeats the purpose of the system… Are you really a Centurion or a Lieutenant Commander if you earned that rank killing people 10 levels lower than you? Just a thought regarding the fear of camping lower levels.
