Classic PvP Content Plan

Even if you aren’t pushing a particularly high rank, it doesn’t feel good to lose progress. A fun aspect of WPvP to me was how inclusive it was/is. People didn’t post requirements or inspect people to join their WPvP raid. They just wanted warm bodies, and it was a welcoming feeling compared to other types of organized content. DHKs brings in paranoia to every group, inspecting people for how many DHKs they have. If you even picked up one DHK due to a misclick/fat-finger, or because you healed a guy who killed an NPC civvy, you could get black-listed from WPvP groups. Not as fun of an environment to play in.

You already got your answers lol. Especially av one, getting 1.12 version. They gave their reason. People just have to get over it.

:hushed: Silithus and Plaguelands PVP! I forgot that was even a thing.

I am excited to give that a try

Does that mean the rewards will require the MoH? 1.12 rewards had MoH, would seem bad if that was the case though.

I have mixed feelings about this update. I like the staggered release of PvP content quite a bit. However I dislike DHKs and 1.12 AV. Thanks for the update either way.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I was under the impression that you would have to have drastically different IPs for that to get triggered. I’m not exactly sure how it works, but I thought the detection was related to your IP location but I could be wrong.

in legion it didn’t flag my friends who live in dif states, but would temp share accounts if they couldn’t meet timeframe for an event or something

You mean like it did in Vanilla?

The game would have to look at more than your IP, to account for people who travel or use different devices to play WoW. It would likely look at play activity as well, and time logged in. If someone is logged in nearly 24/7 (sign of people pushing GM), it’s a red flag.

Yes, that is what I’m discussing. That was my experience with the introduction of DHKs. Even if I organized my own groups and didn’t care about DHKs, people would whisper me telling me someone in the raid had them.

If you’re approaching me as if I’m #nochanges, I’m not. I’m open to targeting particular types of experiences from Vanilla. Like the period in time when we had an Honor system without DHKs.

I am very concerned about when the pvp system will be introduced and how long the pvp system will be out before battle grounds are released.

Because phase 2 is has Diremaul I think it has to be released within 2-3 months of the release of Classic but I think that is to early to release the honor system because BWL likely wont get released till 5 or 6 months after launch. 2-3 months with no BGs is going to be way to long I feel.

What happens if people decide to camp flight points instead of going to Hillsbrad? We cant say that Classic will play out in a similar way to what people did in Vanilla.

I am also concerned that a large number of people will be able to obtain a full set of blue pvp gear before BWL is released.

Please reconsider adding a 7th phase between the current 2 phase and 3 phase to release the pvp system. With a 7th phase the pvp system can be timed to be more closer to BWL and closer to how it was in Vanilla.

Yeah, I’ve heard of people doing stuff like this a lot which is why I was initially worried.

AMAZING NEWS, this is getting me so hype i cant believe u guys are actually doing this right. good stuff x100000 LOVE U

good plan withholding battlegrounds just all about world pvp at the start should be fun!

Honestly I think BGs NEED to come out with ranking or anyone thats not going to be 60 by DM launch will quit. People arent realizing how serious rankers will be camping any high level zone for honor with no BGs.

That would be one way they could flag an account for suspected account sharing. But I have a feeling it goes deeper than that seeing as there’s nothing inherently illegitimate about connecting from a different IP address. I could go to a different state with my laptop and play WoW.

I’m assuming that something sent from Warden tips them off to account sharing. If you’re unfamiliar, Warden is a program that runs in the background whenever you’re playing a Blizzard game and it is able to track various programs running on your computer. It’s how they find out you’re using a botting program.

Do you think that would be enough of a deterrent to them? While tedious, I feel like if that was the case people would begin to figure out the optimal amount of time (18 hrs a day, for example) of their accounts not being flagged as suspicious.

This may all be trivial by the time Classic is released, who knows! This is just my major concern as someone who dedicated a lot of time trying for Rank 14 in vanilla and seeing people online 20+ hrs a day grinding HKs.

i believe it tracks all programs influencing the game itself, walking into illegal grounds if it monitors everything

I don’t know for sure, I don’t track people who get banned for account sharing outside of a few high-profile cases of some dumb streamer making his account sharing public knowledge. I’d guess that their methods have at least improved over the years of tracking that type of cheating though.
