I don’t want to go into it here as to how, but someone is advertising on trade on my server about warlock dreadsteads…and how to get them cough “free” cough. aka he’s profiting. I just want to know if this is indeed considered an exploit. If any questions, i’d rather not answer here, but have a gm whisper me in game or check ticket. Just doesn’t seem right. and no, i’m not posting on my classic toon.
You have 2 options right click and report for cheating or email hacks@blizzard.com with all details and name. GM wont contact you in game.
i did one of those two things. thanks.
Thats all you can do realy.
I am guessing this person is just advertising that they have the mats and will let you use them for a fee. The mats cost 250g or so, so if you let someone else use yours and charge them 50g then it is a win win. I would wager that is what they advertising they are just using tricky language. But if you think that isn’t what it is reporting them for cheating is the way to go.
close, but since the mats are soulbound…not quite. guess i’ll just hope the gm’s deal with it. was curious though as to if it is indeed a exploit, or just one of those eh, if it happens it happens kind of things. pretty sure it was considered one back in the day.
Nope. I was the first lock in my guild to get the felsteed. Used my mats to help the others get their mounts.
There is nothing nefarious happening. Just one warlock earning some gold by helping other warlocks save theirs.
I don’t remember from so long ago but there are two types of mats needed for the dreadsteed quests.
One is profession mats. You need a number of various ones (ore, herbs, etc) for part of the quest series.
The other is 250g cost mats purchased directly from an NPC. Are these ones soulbound?
I can’t speak for sure on this part, but it does like they aren’t consumed upon use, so they can be reused.
the summoning mats for the quest are indeed soulbound, but they are not consumed on use and the quest does not require that particular warlock to use the items/complete the summon. in other words, i’m not sure what you think is being exploited here. if they didn’t want a warlock to summon for another warlock, it would be trivially easy for them to stop from happening.
Yes, they are soulbound. Only one warlock in the group needs to have the expensive mats but all warlocks in the group can benefit.
interesting, thanks for the replies, guess it’s cool to do then.
Well, it depends. If he has already finish the quest line and opened the portal, they can invite any number of warlocks to summon their mount.
They may be expecting a tip or simply don’t want anything.
