I’ve been reading for quite a while that “Classic is dead!” but, it ranks 2 spots just behind WoW in population.
In fact, the only games ahead of it are Runescape (Original), FF XIV, WoW Retail, I forget what came next and then WoW Classic and it sits at a pop of 700,000+ (this is including SoM Classic, Classic Era and TBC).
Retail is sitting at 2.19 million currently with FF XIV at 2.39 million.
If these numbers are correct then it really just gives a big shot of retrospect to how big and successful WotLK was. It’s no wonder Blizzard is trying to #changes it out of its authenticity because they don’t want to be humiliated by their past.
I’ve also seen youtube videos on top 10 MMOs, and they say the same thing. Dexerto, Activeplayer.io says 300k+ daily active players on Classic, and so on.
Classic IS dead, on the EU at least. You can literally log in yourself and run a census. I doubt it’s any different for the US. LOL at MMO-Population and their 26 million subs. On the so called biggest EU servers, there’s not even 50 people logged in.
You keep citing this source but you have no idea how they collect their data. That’s what I’m asking you Beefyudders. If you don’t know how they collect data, why are you trusting them?
wasnt’t this the site that had wildstar have an acitve population of several thousand.
Long after it shut down.
iron forge I like as they say log traffic and its date range.
recent checked showed lower numbers actually. Which is probably people taking time off to recharge for wrath no life time lol… Not sayin wow is dying…I get people going I am done for now. more power to em. got touch that grass lol.
Bottom line, all I was trying to say was that Classic isn’t as dead as the other forum posters make it out to be. No, I do not know the raw numbers (Blizzard hasn’t really posted them for quite some time) but these are estimates.
Each website/source says something different, but they all have one thing in common, in that the numbers are still healthy for an MMO that’s 18 years old.
The website you cited has a literal section that says that their info isn’t accurate or backed by any verifiable data and they skimmed through Reddit/Google searches to track it.
Blizzard has never released their sub count after WoD.
Your source is a dud and this post is not worth anyone’s time.
Except that it is. For the 2nd time, you can literally log in and run the census addon. Or you can do a /who. On the EU, the biggest servers, don’t even have 50 people logged in. That’s less than 50 people in the 1-60 range. Literally every EU server has a low population.
I thought you meant the original classic. If so, look at the dates. As for TBC, the biggest realms have around 7k concurrent users at prime time which is obviously more than fine. But they had to close many realms aswell, because they were dead.
