Classic LFG Addon reconsidered

Which makes no sense because there were addons in vanilla that did this. Hell vanilla had it’s own built right in. Lol.

Idk. I seen another one the other day. Can’t think of the name but it was a group finder.

If you find it let me know. The chat spam is terrible when trying to get groups. Although with the way people abuse the authors, who donate their time, I wouldn’t blame any for not making addons ever again.

I don’t have any problems finding and creating groups. The tool is, at best, redundant. At worst, it encourages laziness which, of course, leads to other things.

The author tried to “scale back” some of the more damning features, but the fact that it was possible (and that he was willing) to implement such features was all I needed to see. Better to nip things like this in the bud. Don’t want a repeat of ubiquitous malignant addons like we’ve seen in retail in the past.

People who use the addon are going to have a “I want instant gratification” mentality. Group leaders will have more of an incentive to kick you if you don’t have the perfect rotation or have a simple mess up. Why? Because finding a replacement will be easy. You can use the addon all you want, but just know your groups will be way better if you do it the old fashion way.

Nope. I know my rotation, I know my mana efficiency, and yet I still use the addon.

Go back to BFA.

But the addon is just a gui for lfg channel, so why be against it?

Just use the addon and be happy OP. It definitely makes group finding much easier/faster. Need to /tell the person who posted that you’re interested in joining–does not cut out social features.

Those who are against it can simply avoid using it and enjoy their longer waits.

If the addon is just a gui for a chat channel why waste the time installing it?

Especially when the author was working on other additions to it that were pretty damning.

I was against this addon like crazy before Classic, but decided to give it a try so I knew more what I was talking about.

First impressions - I clicked on 3 dungeons to check for and it would pop up a notification whenever someone typed something in chat (technically the addon sends it to chat but same thing). I would then whisper people to be added.

That’s actually not bad, it just organises chat messages from what I’m seeing. As long as it doesn’t auto form groups or anything the social aspect isn’t being removed.

So I’m on the verge of changing my mind about the addon, but I haven’t really mucked around with it too much.

I agree w/ Lutwidge

Because the author was working on making it more than that. Even if he didn’t, someone could clone his git project and do it themselves. Best to just discourage peoples’ reliance on it to begin with.

It’s easier to never give something to someone than to try and take it away after they’ve had it. See flying in retail.

Even if he didnt…

Well Bartender doesn’t automatically put groups together, but someone can clone it and make it do that themselves. So should we get rid of Bartender too?

nope, begone with it.

That argument has merit, but I just encourage anything that helps w/ the longevity of WoW be it classic or retail, preferably both:)

Laziest straw man I’ve seen in a while lmao

reroll a tank if you are tired of /2 LF1M TANK

no automation tools

How else do you react to “Well someone else can make an addon that does xxxxx?” It’s a fucntionality that can be built into any addon in the game. So you need to try to get a better argument. Because I can make an addon that does exactly that but is disguised as a different addon and you’d never know.

Give it a rest, dude. Comparing ClassicLFG, whose express purpose is to assist with LFG, to Bartender is so absurd that I don’t even know why I’m bothering to respond to you.

In fact, I’m done here lol. bai.
