Oh im down for epic AV. I’d be down for 1.1-1.12 patch progression too. Oh and no dhk’s. Just get rid of those.
Pointing out that these discussions took place long ago and we’ve known for awhile that we were getting 1.12 AV=poor attitude for a consumer? Lol. What?

I’m more worried about the whales ruining it with their gold buying. Which could push blizz into tokens. No that’s not supporting tokens either. That is a genuine concern of mine.
The whales have ruined gaming and we now have mtx>engaging gameplay because of people buying gold back in the day.

If it was 1.12 Vanilla then BWL, ZG, AQ, and Naxx would be there at launch.

Content release isn’t the same as systems.

It’s being released in the 1.12 form, at the 1.5 Patch equivalent. So is ZG, AQ and BWL etc. None of the systems will be upgraded from a lower revision. Not MC, not ZG, not AQ, not AV.

If it was a design decision…that’s very sad.

It was a design decision to ensure a consistent patch level so that balancing is all at the same point.

How much of the values was kept on server side however? Im Positive if enough of us had our old PCs we upgraded from in say 1.3 or 1.6 or w.e patch had the values in our wow files they could pull it from them no? But if its kept server side youre 100% correct; its impossible to know ACTUAL values or what not from back then.

Actually, if the pre-1.12 knowledge gap was about what was stored on client, you could pull out an old install CD set and just pull that data. There’s no shortage of people on these forums who kept theirs and would happily lend them.

TBH though, they said they were going full 1.12 with no further changes beyond what’s mandatory to make it function on modern systems, with modern architectures. That means 1.12 AV, and anyone moaning about it is barking up exactly the same tree as anyone still asking for transmog carryover.

It’s funny seeing peoples actual reaction to how bad 1.12 AV is when they see it in person with their own eyes, though.

As usual, when people say this, they don’t understand what “no changes” means.

You see, Blizzard had not originally announced that they were going to make everything 1.12. They originally said that they were going to draw from all of Vanilla before making a decision. As a result, “no changes” did not mean “exactly what Blizzard says”. It meant “no changes that did not occur in Vanilla”, and always included the option of what was called a Frankenpatch, where Classic would take the best version of each game element together into one.

And Brack in fact said he wished for people to discuss what versions of vanilla elements we desired most.

Being able to playtest the battleground is different from simply reading the plans.

AV, at this point, doesn’t feel epic. Previous versions of AV (pre-1.12) were intense.

AV should be a PVPVE battleground. As it stands, it’s currently worse than Ashran on launch (my opinion).

Point of note: 1.12 AV is actually 1.11 AV. From v1.5-1.7 AV actually received improvements and buffs. When MoHs were implemented in 1.8, suddenly they scrambled to begin dismantling AV so that it would take less and less time to play. From v1.8-1.11, the original PVPVE game was obliterated.

Yeah its easy to say but 1.12 is only representitive of 1.12 and is not a very good representation of what Vanilla was for the majority of its life cycle.

Selecting 1.12 classes; I get it.

Selecting 1.12 PvP and PvP was a huge mistake.

Earlier WoW was superior to 1.12 in a lot of ways, and unfortunately gives a very watered down experience. Essentially its Vanilla on ultra easy mode.

The only ‘nerf’ I see in 1.6 is longer respawn timer for tower guards. Which is meh. But it also added offensive air strikes and reduced the rep needed for cavalry charges.

Why is everyone acting like they want to grind NPCs in AV for 12 hours, 1.12 AV is more pvp oriented.

So much so that your knowledge is based on your rank of… oh wait, you do not have a vanilla rank.

Maybe I experienced something completely different to you, but I don’t remember any of this in Vanilla, however I play a rogue which isn’t in the main battle, my job was towers and gy harassment, from my perspective, nothing really changed.

AV was changed so that honor farmers could get MoHs faster. Full Stop.

Unfortunately the forums did not discuss valuable things like what versions of what content is best (BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALL THE DATA).

Instead they endlessly nagged for dumb crap like Transmog or Adding modern graphics; stuff that will simply never happen.

The few threads that discussed content were drown by kids who in most cases just didnt play enough actual vanilla to know any better.

As a result 1.12 was according to the forums “the version”.

Unfortunately a franken patch would have actually provided people with a proper “Vanilla Experience”

I can only hope they dont make the same mistake with TBC because 2.4 is the sane as 1.12 its a catch up EZ mode version.
