It would be, technically, if they did literally the same things pservers do, with made-up data and customized AV to make up for the fact the original AV data is long gone. Pre-1.11 threat in a 1.12 environment. Etc.
Basically a Frankenpatch would be the Blizzard equivalent of a pserver, and that’s not what I want.
If a 1.8 number is set to 1000, and a 1.12 number is set to 600. Would it be so bad if Blizz got it wrong and set it to 980? Would that be too inaccurate?
You must be new here. I’m not the only person who posts on these forums with an axe to grind.
Hell, why do you think Classic is so popular? It’s not (just) because of streamers, you know. It’s because the modern game has been crap for years and Blizzard just isn’t listening.
I’m at the point where I think they should just do a wow 2.0 with the original design philosophy. They can make changes to classic to better align with the progress of where players skill level is at.
I did play that first tier of Cata and that felt pretty damn close. So I know they could if they wanted to.
What has bothered me is the prevalence of people complaining that something in the beta or stress test is broken or too easy for it to just be later confirmed that that is how it was in Vanilla WoW. No one has a memory good enough (and if you do good on ya) to accurately remember everything for how it was. What concerns me is that people are using a hazy memory or PServers as a benchmark for Classic and that even if Blizz releases it with no changes people will complain and say it isn’t the real Vanilla. I think in turn this will sour the community and do some damage to the game. The fact of the matter is that the people that best know exactly what classic was like is Blizz, like it or not.
I don’t mean this as an attack on anyone was just putting out my thoughts to see what others think! Hope you’re all having a good day!
I think it boils down to 2 main groups: an old-school generation eager to dive in and explore a world full of dangers, malice, and challenges. It makes you more aware of your surroundings and less “add-on” dependent. On the other hand, we have a spoonfed/handheld generation whose sole purpose is to be incessantly demanding and unforgiving. They want everything ipso facto and they will hold a grudge against everything and everyone if they are not treated with false hospitality. Also, this group needs their false entitlement to feel like they are actually “changing” something . They just need to be heard!
Who is the main audience here? We will know once Classic is out.
And what’s your supporting evidence for this claim?
On private servers that were more 1.12 Blizzlike (i.e., K1), people constantly complained that the content was too easy where as Nost (which had buffed dungeons and raids) became exceedingly popular.
Hmm, sounds like difficulty DOES in fact provide a more engaging, challenging, and rewarding experience.
