There area number of reasons for SOD’s decline, simply chalking it all up to the GDKP ban is absolutely insane. Not only did Phase 1 have a huge novelty factor, with the level cap at just level 25 everyone was raiding BFD on multiple characters. The next 2 phases were content droughts. Phase 2 was underwhelming. Phase 3 was extremely long with a raid(Sunken Temple) most people didn’t seem to like. Phase 3 was also the phase where they added incursions which rubbed a ton of people the wrong way because it killed the open world which is integral to classic. There were also things like very questionable PvP balance to point where they had to introduced a flat damage/healing nerf across the board which fixed some problems but created others.

So i’s honestly not hard to find guilds that run content without GDKP on any of the ERA servers, even whitemane which tends to have the most GDKPs. So if you either wont or can’t find a guild to.take you now, why would things be different on a fresh server, which will have an accelerated pace, and where most guilds will likely be picky about who they run with?
