I just did a run of RFD and all of my group was able to complete the escort quest ‘Extinguishing the Idol’ but for some reason mine never registered as completed. Any way I can just have a GM complete the quest for me and give me the item / xp reward?
They can, but usually won’t. You can try asking a GM with this link. Good luck.
{Bad Link Removed}
No, I’m afraid not, Ultric.
Traditionally, only in very rare situations, where there is a known bug that cannot be circumvented for quests that are absolutely required to progress are we generally able to help like that.
I’m sorry, Pu, but they won’t. While I appreciate your attempt to help, you tend to have a throw it all at the wall and see what sticks method. Response times are extremely high right now and I’d rather not waste time on a certainty.
Also, please stop double quoting. I get you dislike that you cannot quote if responding to the post above you but please get over it. If you dislike that feature submit feedback in the appropriate forum.
Thanks.
Ok, although I don’t really care for your characterization. I see it as, “it doesn’t hurt to ask.”
That’s how I figured out how to work around that issue. Still a habit. Need to get in the habit of just modifying the quote itself by a character so get it to stick.
Dislike? No. But when I want the quote there, I need to remember to slightly edit rather than just double clicking the button. It’s just a habit. I’ll work on it. Ok?
You do, but it does hurt to ask because you are unnecessarily encouraging people to submit a ticket that will absolutely be denied. That causes them frustration and means that a Game Master has to spend time on something they can’t help with. I hope you can appreciate that.
Fair enough.
Well… I did try to temper expectations, but perhaps I could have been more pessimistic. I don’t know all the ins and outs of all the little niche situations where GMs can or can’t assist with quest or achievement completion. I know they’ve helped me in the past when I’ve had quest issues, so I know the answer isn’t always, “No!” But I also know that “Yes” is rather uncommon.
Also, why would you edit your edit changing it from {Link Removed} to {Bad Link Removed}? Did I really do something so bad as to warrant that extra effort? Do you not believe that I offered that link with good intentions?
Please be patient… sometimes hard for this old guy to change habits, so if one slips through, it’s not meant to be defiant.
There is a lot we can do in the current version of World of Warcraft, but Classic is another story entirely. In most situations we’d be unable to help with a quest.
Because the link was bad, as in it doesn’t work, so I felt it better to update it to reflect that fact instead of just removed.
I’ll make sure to add caveats about assistance not being guaranteed in certain situations, particularly with quest issues, and even moreso with Classic.
Oh… I didn’t realize. It seemed to work when I tested it. Oh well. Thanks for letting me know. I felt like you thought I did something bad. I feel better now.
Hey op! Did it turn the quest in and not give up the XP or credit? Or could you simply not hit “complete quest”? I had this issue at the start of classic, I did /reload UI a few times then went off and killed some things. I came back and was able to turn it in. Hopefully you still have the quest in hand so you don’t lose out on xp.
