Raids are certainly a goal for the guild but we’re still building a roster for it. We’ve got I think 19 level 60s atm. The majority of them are fresh 60s but a handful are in rank 13+ or raiding gear. The best way to get a feel for the guild prior would be to role a lv 1 and say hi in-game. A free transfer is always available over to the PvP West too so you’re never really ‘stuck’ here if things don’t work out.
Edit: I just noticed the toon you are posting on is from Shadowstrike. Our cluster is the PvP Era East. While Blizzard hasn’t made an official announcement on what specific types of transfers will be available, a PvE to PvP transfer may not be possible. Time will tell.
I just leveled to 59 on a WOTLK server and have not enjoyed skipping so much content - quests and dungeons - because everyone is focused on leveling to 80 as much as possible and the XP is so much faster. I miss classic (I started at 2004 release), so it’s feeling like I’m going to reroll Horde somewhere over here.
Well I just spent some time checking out Mankrik and Whitemane. Both servers/clusters are super dead (by any standard, e.g. only 3 people in Orgrimmar at 10p on a Friday night). Disappointing, but will keep checking periodically as SOM ends.
Chat and group activity is active in the guilds’ Discords. Even though Org won’t look busy, there’s still dungeon runs and raids that are being organized. Checkout Loot The Dog or DragonFire on Mankrik or Not Prepared on Whitemane.
While the Horde side is unfortunately more low-pop compared to Alliance, both NA clusters (Whitemane and Makrik) have Horde guilds which raid Naxx on farm.
According to server census in the Vanilla Classic Era Discord, you will generally have 3-4x the number of Alliance. The Mankrik/Pagle/etc. cluster is the most populated NA cluster. If you like seeing people out in the world, Alliance is your best bet in Era.
On the up side, while the quantity of most things is lower and the pace is slower, the quality of people in Era is more generally more mature and friendly and other-focused.
IMO, Retail (and now Wrath - both feel more or less the same to me now) seems like an ego-centric rat race of people spamming 20 min. heroic dungeons to be “the best”. (A guildmate of mine was the Wrath Classic world first to 80 on Pagle and he did it by spamming UK repeatedly.)
In Wrath and later expacs, dugeons are just 20 min. time gates for short-term gear - to be quickly replaced. Not my idea of a fun, when after all of that, you’re value as a player is reduced to a single (arbitrary and often gamed) number from a website (warcraft logs).
In those versions of the game, parses, gold and gear drive everything now.
Next year, the rat race will all be preparing to have the best raid gear for the first normal Cata Classic dungeon, so they can clear it in record time, I guess?
Good luck to them, I hope they get what they wish for. To each his own.
But the whole rat race vibe in Wrath is definitely NOT Vanilla WoW and not my cup of tea. It was present in Classic WoW to a significant degree, actually, and then got out of control at the end and then with GDKPs in TBC farming SWP. But I digress.
They say “Home is where the heart is.”
For me, Era is my forever WoW home.
It always feels right as rain, even if there isn’t a mob standing on top of the bank in Org.
