I just tried to open the Classic Era PTR and every time I do, it opens the Dragonflight Client, shows four “incompatible” realms, then disconnects me whenever I choose one.
I uninstalled the Era PTR, reinstalled it, and tried again to no avail. Not sure what is going wrong here - I am definitely opening the correct client, the “WoW Classic Era PTR”.
It shouldn’t be opening the DF Retail client, showing the DF cinematics, or having the DF login screens, etc.
Why would a customer support forum be assumed to be player to player only? I think you are right though - Technical Support probably would be better suited for this problem
It isn’t exactly “only”, but our forums are primarily for player to player discussions. They are intended for players to discuss the game and aspects of it with each other. This specific forum has Support Forum Agents like me around to help moderate and answer what questions about support I can.
That is not guaranteed though, and it is important to understand that Customer Support has zero involvement with the Test realms.
This is not a technical issue. Your post would be better suited for the PTR forums, which will have information on the Test realm when it is available.
As noted though, the PTR is not currently available nor is the PTR client you are looking for. That is why when you boot up that particular client you are getting what you are.
The correct client will likely be available sometimes before the PTR realm is opened, but we do not have specifics on when that may be. If I had to guess, if they are opening tomorrow, the client should be available later today or early tomorrow.
Yea I thought it was open today, that must be the problem. Though not sure why it would open the DF client in either case. Hopefully the Era PTR actually being available will change that, ty
