Just as importantly (if not more so), we recognize that all of these updates to Classic Era came abruptly and without warning. This lapse in communication was not in line with our values, and we need to do better here. As it stands now, the Classic team philosophically has very little desire to bring gameplay-impacting changes to Classic Era. Moving forward, we will endeavor to discuss any potential community-led desire for changes with the community, well in advance of actually implementing any updates.

Can we bring back /click functionality to Era please? Has destroyed several addons and weakauras that maintain buff cap. /Cancelaura macros don’t allow enough text space to blacklist all unwanted buffs. Crickets from Blizz about all these things bleeding into Era

Yes both of them. Same as in Booty Bay you could NOT mount on boats or zeppelins (except from in a special place on the zep, and on the big box on the boat and in both cases you dismounted when getting off because you entered non-mount space). You could NOT get Stormrend.

still waiting your post about recently massive change on " Era " which you mentioned " For everything it does perfectly, Classic Era is also beloved for its wonderful imperfections. These ‘perfectly imperfect’ elements and balance make up the texture of the overall experience, and we recognize that making changes to these, even with the intent of adding ‘quality of life’ updates – and particularly without discussing them with the community first – was shortsighted. Thank you, again, for your feedback."

The problem is that, as many pointed out and feared from the onset, having SoD and Era on the same game version has rendered Blizzard legitimately incapable of patching SoD without introducing bugs to Era.

Perhaps if the small indie company hadn’t laid off 80% of their staff, they would have developers available to ensure the game runs smoothly, but apparently, a trillion-dollar corporation can’t afford that. The worst part is that the game is 20 years old, and they still can’t release a quality version. Developers nowadays often rush to release products, aware of existing bugs, relying on the ability to patch them later. There’s a nostalgia for the times when games were released with quality in mind—yes, there were bugs, but they weren’t game-breaking and were often embraced as easter eggs. For instance, the super jumping glitch in Halo 2 was a bug, yet it turned out to be an incredible feature!

The worst part is that the game is 20 years old

If this were true, we’d probably be a lot happier. I’d love to play the game as it was 20 years ago.

But that’s not even particularly close to what we have. The new client brings a lot of changes, and the changes added after that also bring a fair bit of change to how the game plays.

Is it enough change for it not to matter that the server side code is (was?) authentic, or does it matter that private server backing code has been developed over years by people trying to piece together how they think the game should play based on what they remember, old videos and documentation?

Interestingly, pservers use authentic vanilla WoW clients, which is more than we can say for WoW Classic.

Greetings everyone,

Last week, we announced several updates to our Classic Era realms. These updates included changes originally developed for Season of Discovery but intentionally brought to Classic Era as well, such as one that specifically addressed a longstanding imbalance in World of Warcraft Classic, by providing Alliance players with the Might of Stormwind buff as a comparable buff to the Horde’s Warchief’s Blessing.

In that time, we have listened to the community response to changes in Classic Era and the concerns about what updates like this could mean for the future. Thank you for your feedback.

Effective immediately, we are reversing the following changes to Classic Era:

• Alliance players now have access to the Might of Stormwind, to a version of the Warchief’s Blessing world buff effect.

• Druids can now train and use polearms.

• The 6-hour wait between applications of Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer and Warchief’s Blessing has been reduced to 1 minute.

For everything it does perfectly, Classic Era is also beloved for its wonderful imperfections. Likewise, we want to provide a bit of insight into UI changes in WoW Classic, and specifically the recent Guild UI update in Classic Era. As we have spoken about in the past, one of the challenges the Classic team faces is recreating Classic experiences while running on modern World of Warcraft code. However, the games gain significant benefits from having this be the case – including at the most foundational level of being able to integrate with Battle.net services in the first place – but it also means that we can share backend code and bring in UI elements as updates from the modern game.

With respect to the Guild UI in Classic Era, although we have received feedback from Guild leaders that the updated UI improves their Guild management, we recognize that allowing in an unexpected change like this in Classic Era is substantively jarring and has an impact on the overall experience. We are committed to doing what is right by our players, and we are discussing additional options for the Guild UI as a team, while continuing to look to the community for feedback.

Also, if you could reduce the boon cost and the re-spec cost that would be amazing. People don’t have time to grind out that much, and it will help your player base when they dont have to do annoying things like MC your own toon to get rend. People are quitting over not getting stormrend, please dont pander to the pointless streamer who hardly plays
