Druids are high skill cap, low reward. You have to try substantially harder than everyone else and still aren’t even considered mediocre.
Druids don’t have to farm that up, either. Its a gimmick. Sure, it works… But it doesn’t feel right, and why the hell would anyone in their right mind want to go through the tedium?
Stuff still dies… Even if folks don’t follow the meta
Any tips for aspiring Feral tanks? In terms of leveling and 5 mans?
No but we can Brez the tank to stop a wipe. Not to mention our heals are competitive with palis easily. The only benefit palis have over druids is the unlimited rezzes after battle. Not to mention, Druids are very good tanks, where pali tanks are pretty useless.
That is bull, our raid takes 3 restos and a bear tank, and we easily farm BWL.
We are great tanks and ferals can pump dps too if you put in the effort. I can and sometimes do MT raids with exception to Nef due to Druid call. You can also top 5 dps or even top certain bosses if you farm and consume manual crowd pummelers. Check out some Skarm vids. Their healing is pretty respectable too. Balance is the only non-viable class for PvE. Barely out dps’ a tank in moonkin form. Moonglow spec is the best pvp spec, see SodaPoppin for that.
Hi Bipbop,
Farm your pre-BiS and farm manual crowd pummelers. You can out-threat most prot/fury prot warrior with pummelers, but your start up threat isn’t great. Overtime it cannot be beat. We wait 2 secs on vael and dps can pump with me using pummelers and threat gear. If you want to tank, I highly recommend. Anytime you aren’t tanking you can dps in cat form. Just make sure to have 5/5 feral instinct for threat and put the rest into cat bonus talents/omen of clarity/natural shapeshifter for power shifting, 5/5 furor, etc. lots of research online to read through.
For serious end game content feral tank, resto are probably your best bets but if you’re willing to minmax to a t, you can get balance/feral cat to work. This being said, the very best druids are the ones who can fill a role when needed so make sure you bring multiple sets of gear (tank/heal/dps) with you so you can be that jack-of-all to your raid.
Don’t worry about those people still stuck in the early/mid 2000s who think Druids were only heals. GL!
I’d accept a game without druids if it meant less druid tier and feral leather drops.
I really don’t get why you ferals are so quick to throw Moonkins under the bus.
Also, check your definition of “non-viable.”
Base damage of wrath is extremely low.
Hard to obtain hit gear for druids
Most leather gear is only + healing
Starfire cast time is too long
Can’t use moonfire/bugswarm as they take up a 2 debuff slots
Extreme mana issues.
You’re viable for about 15 seconds then you’re OOM, while only having pulled ~400 dps that 15 seconds.
I feel the same way about the 60%+ warriors.
Healing gear became warrior gear too. If you get rid of warrior drops, all that’s left is caster junk.
Cat 3rd best DPS for 90+ parses (which are extremely easy to achieve). Moonkin are not.
You don’t need to Min Max to a tee to perform as a cat either, litterally worldbuffs and consumes (can still out dps casters without an MCP)
No one will want you for raids but everyone will want you for WSG.
You don’t like faerie fire? Feral gear is still arguably warrior gear. AQ distributes tier differently too.
Boomkin here.
- We don’t use Wrath. Why? Curse of Shadows. Even if we don’t have enough warlocks for CoS, wrath is bad due to the .5 faster cast if it crits, wich is ignored due to the gcd.
- Hit gear is so easy to get actually. Bloodvine is 4%, and you can get like other 5-6% from ZG alone. Still, hit is not always the best choice if you can go for a more pure Spellpower build.
- Indeed, most leather is healing+. That’s why we use cloth. Like, again, bloodvine.
- 15 seconds then OOM, that’s a big oof. Friendly reminder that mana pots & runes are a thing, and you can downrank starfire if you have mana problems. The only instances where I oom is during Nef, considering a bres wich eats like 25% of my mana.
Still, of course we are a trash spec. But we can do much better than that.
If you go full sweaty you can achieve… mediocre to decent. Trash damage is gonna be better.
I just get turned off by these ferals -bad ones in this case- that don’t know the difference between “viable” and “optimal.” Moonkins are viable.
In 99% of situations, a warm body who can play their class and shows up to raid is optimal.
For the top 1%, moonkin has a tiny niche, while a resto of some sort is probably optimal.
Ya, pretty much everything is “viable”.
I used to play it with full world buffs, but we don’t have CoS so… I lose like 150 dps just by not having CoS, not gonna world buff again til i get it
anyway, damage was decent while world buffed. Sure, not top 10 dps, but maybe top 13 or top 15 on some fights.
Brutal man, haha.
Yeah, moonkin isn’t something I’d recommend exactly but… idk. It works if you get it there.
Luckily, Blizzard disliked that enough to fix it.
Unfortunately, it isn’t til much later. ![]()
