Classic+ Dragon of Nightmare Portals used for player shortcuts?

Prepare for a potentially dumb but, personally, interesting idea.

I’m not very savvy when it comes to WoW lore or patch history, but were these giant portals situated respectively in Duskwood, Feralas, Hinterlands and Ashenvale ever usable by players?
If not, it begs the question whether or not this was a missed opportunity to reward very accomplished players with four additional fast travel options.

Each of these four portals guarded by dragons are conveniently spread out into the four corners of the world map, and it would be cool if, through the use of some magical quest item rewarded for an exceedingly high accomplishment, a player was able to use these portals as shortcuts to one of the other three portals so long as they bypass the dragon.
Kind of like the warping cauldrons in the Banjo Kazooie video games.

Good idea? Or stupid as hell?
Well classic+ is stupid anyway, but I’d like to know if this concept was ever thought up by the developers or what the reason is for the portal’s convenient positions in the world.

Thanks.

Best use idea I have ever heard, and makes potential collision very interesting

People would flip out that it’s added, and then simultaneously work tirelessly to obtain the item necessary to use the portals.

It would be a great idea IMO. Really the best way to think about these things is, does it ruin the vanilla feel? And since these portals originate in vanilla and never saw any use, I think it actually enhances the vanilla feel, similar to how developing Grim Batol might enhance it, since it’s always been there.

Think it would make more sense as a Classic+ raid/zone entrance to the Emerald Dream since that’s where those portals take you lore-wise.

Fab idea for Classic + in my opinion.

Sounds cool. I have no problem with teleporting in classic as long as you have to manually walk to the teleporter. Its the que style teleporting thats everywhere in retail thats annoying.

This is a really cool and creative idea, walking up to those portals and then just passing through them always felt so anti-climactic so even just a small use like travel would definitely be nice.

Instead of true fast-trvael, each portal could function as a unique entry point to the new zone/dungeon/raid kind of like the orange/purple sides of Maradon. Intercontinental travel across Azeroth could still be facilitated by exiting through another portal inside.

i think they should take u to 4 different places in the emerald dream. and the dark portal should take u to a magtheridon ruled outland scaled to 60 with no flying

those portals go to the emerald dream :expressionless:
