Classic. Didn't receive quest reward. Can't restore?

I completed the quest Forbidden Knowledge and did not receive the quest reward after selecting. It’s possible the server crashed shortly after. It seems like I just never got the reward from completing the quest though.
I was not able to restore via the online restoration tool at any time and a ticket submission wasn’t really helpful either.

What options are available to resolve this and has anyone else experienced this?

If the GM’s aren’t able to see that you acquired the item, there isn’t anything they can really do. The GM’s for Classic have taken a hands-off approach for the most part as people had requested a Vanilla WoW experience.

I would suggest moving on, get to lvl 60, and gear up. There are always other pieces of gear out there for you to replace a quest reward, in most cases.

Not a good response. It’s a pivotal item that is essentially required to fully play the game.

Looking for solutions that don’t include “move on, its too bad.”

Just so you know, the GMs uses the same tool to resore items lost, if it’s not showing up there it not likely the GMs are gonna see it either. You COULD submit a ticket and ask, there really isn’t much that can be done over the forums as it’s not really a contact point for the GMs.

Sadly, that’s really it.

The GM’s use the same restoration list to confirm. The other thing they look at is what happened to the item. Such as - was it deleted? vendored? disenchanted? If vendored, is there enough currency to cover the vendor cost (as it’ll be removed when the item is restored). If disenchanted, Are the reagent mats still in the inventory as they’ll be remove too. If that all makes sense.

If you never actually received the item a GM can’t simply conjure it up for you (contrary to what many think).

Absolutely! Never hurts to ask.

I mean considering we had a Kazzak despawn with loot after a server crash and a GM sent the same item to two separate players (only one of the item dropped) they absolutely can do that.

Also, a guild member had carrot on a stick restored like 5 months after deleting it. It wasn’t in the item restoration page.

So it can be done, I suppose I’m asking why it seems there are different rules for each individual GM?

There isn’t a single item in the game whose absence renders the game unplayable.

No, they abide by the same policies - it all comes down to what can be confirmed in the logs.

Because because (allegedly) not receiving a quest reward upon quest completion is not the same as deleting a quest reward.

You’re absolutely certain it’s not in your bags or bank somewhere? You’ve tried a full UI reset? It is reversible.

I’ve had a UI reset (not reload, not unloading add-ons) fix missing items.

Unfortunately, our Support staff is usually unable to restore quest rewards on WoW Classic.

In some situations they can help but it often depends on what can be verified. If you had submit a ticket soon after you completed the quest, we may have been able to verify when the quest was completed, if an item was present and/or what happened to said item and may have been able to help.

As it is, we no longer have record of when the quest may have been completed, there is no record of the quest reward or what may have happened to it. The mention of a possible server crash is new, but there is no way to verify that at this step.

I understand that you know someone who seems to have had a quest reward restored, but that is more of an exception to the rule and I’m afraid it is not a justification that would allow our staff to make an exception they already looked into and could not make.

I would urge you to stop submitting tickets and close the current ticket you have open. You appear to have submit 4+ on this matter and have already been issued a warning. If you continue, the warning will be escalated.

woops, sorry Vrakthris for suggesting to submit a ticket on the matter. I wasn’t aware that he sent so many.

You weren’t aware of the history, Thundertotem.

I understand the frustration, especially in situations where the request looks similar from an outside perspective. I just want to avoid anyone getting in trouble.

That’s unfortunate that there isn’t a uniform standard. That some players can have a quest reward restored 5+ months after deleting. But others that grinded rank 14 and put in a lot of effort are told by GMs to delete their character and start over if they want the reward that badly and get issued warnings for asking for help with an issue that absolutely has a solution. Being unwilling to help isn’t the same as being unable to help.
The fact that GMs have restored items to players 5+ months after they discarded and GMs generated more items than what actually dropped to players tells me they are able to help, just not willing to.

There is a standard, Braincore, the standard is that we do not assist with restoring quest rewards. There are some situations that allow for an exception. I’m afraid yours appear to not be one of them.

Being unable to help is not the same as unwilling, you are correct. But you miss one important fact. Game Masters follow policy and do not have the luxury of simply making it up as they go along so “will” isn’t actually a factor.

If you wish to see a change made to the policy, feel free to post in the General discussion forum or submit your suggest through the in-game help option.

I mean a guild mate literally said in a ticket, “I deleted this a long time ago, I didn’t know how important it is” and the GM restored it.

I’m not sure how that is some kind of exceptional situation that allowed a GM to restore a critical reward to a player and my situation is different. So to reiterate, there’s isn’t one standard being followed.

To reiterate, our Game Masters have specific policies they follow. I’m sorry but those aren’t always as clear as one may like but the requests are granted or not based on the policies that they follow.

As this has been covered and there is nothing further I will be able to add I am going to close the thread. Good luck to you.
