Any amount of time is too short to have a character permanently deleted after spending hundreds of hours on progressing it. Some people in this thread said that it was 14 months, but honestly idk because I never heard a single thing about it.

Thatâs rough buddy, hopefully blizzard gives you back those classic characters. Not right to do that without notice, shows they donât really value their customers at all

There were not deleted at all, you can still play them, just not where you want.

Well, thatâs a great question! And, I think kind of building on what Holly said, it really is like a âsnapshotâ taken, at the time we launch the patch. And, so, at that point, you do have your name, in both places. Um, of course, part of the reason we want to make people, uh, make a choice here, and encourage them to choose the place they want to go, is
so that we donât have people parking on those names, forever. So, at some point, we might, uh, decide to, uh, relax that, and let those names be unreserved.
But, if you decide on âLaunch Dayâ, that youâre gonna pay for the clone, and you want to have that Clone in both eras, youâll have your name in both places. Uh, one of the things, weâre (also) concerned about is, though, what that looks like, in Classic Era. Like, uh, as we expect most players go to âBurning Crusadeâ, and weâll probably have to do something to resolve that. Our current plans is that youâll be able to keep your current name but probably have something similar to our "Connected Realms, that letâs you have a (the) âRealm Nameâ, on the end, so we could resolve any conflicts, if we have to do any mergers, like that.

Like, this is getting ridiculous. Iâm tired of people saying âI didnât knowâ, when the FIRST time they were announced, there was NEVER a promise of âforeverâ. Where people got this idea, I have NO idea.

Like I do want clones (mostly just want my Enchanter back) but like that particular character has some bad memories attached to her, so in a way, this is a blessing in disguise.
Still, it sucks I lost my 300 skill Enchanter and finding a non-HC Uldaman is tough LOL

I never even heard about the announcment of âclonesâ in the first place. This was never advertised clearly unless you were stalking the forums etc

It wasnât very clearly announced on the forums, either. It was announced during their virtual Blizzcon (WHERE THEY MAKE EVERY ANNOUNCEMENT/CAHNGES, EVER) and EXPLICITLY said to âstick aroundâ/go to their âDeep Diveâ for MORE information and viola! Clones!

Jesus christ dude your chars werent deleted or moved. They stayed where you left them. The game around your character progressed into wolk. You didnt make a âclassic eraâ character back then, you made a WoW class ic character. Then 2 expansions happened. The sae way it happened the first time. Your character wasnt deleted, it stayed on a server that became a wolk serverâŚ

I expected them to never delete the character in the first place. I shouldnât need to check my junk folder everyday or buy a battle pass for an announcement that my characters are being deleted.

Ya I also fell victim to this as I didnât check in time when they announced the clone retiring window. I leveled a toon already to 60 but now Iâm just discouraged to keep playing because Iâd rather it be a fresh server or have my original classic toon back.
