Classic cata?

This is not a joke and from my experience cata servers for some reason were popular. People tend to think they aren’t but that were always able to keep a good amount of players playing the game.

The biggest problem with cata is the last patch which is terrible but until firelands the expansion was decent

All in due time my friend.

Yeah we will see, the main problem with cata was that the game didnt have a lot of endgame content but man they changed the entire world and let’s be real that was impressive

Cata, Mop & WoD had the best classic design of all expansions, only reason WoD failed was because of lack of content, and Cata didn’t fail just had a massive content drought @ Dragon Soul

We’ll keep getting X Classic servers until Blizzard crumbles into dust. Just no reason to not have a skeleton crew man the updated versions of settled content.

And yes, Cata was actually a good expansion. The final tier was pretty bad but that’s mostly because the final raid was pretty bad, notably so after the grandiose raid that was Firelands.

Truly hope we get at least cata and MoP

I’m actually looking forward to trying MoP. That is when I originally left the game. And although I do not like the Talent Trees, i’ve heard the Raiding was great. So i’d love to give that a chance.

Oh yeah, Cata/MoP had lots of quirky things on the side to explore and do, lots of flair, lots of neat systems.

You stop stressing over the talent trees pretty quick and actually grow to like some of them when you realize that some classes/specs actually get some neat choices from boss to boss. Some don’t and still have more or less overpowered “mandatory” choices, but I really liked my Druid/Priest/DK options.

Raiding is a blast. The Thunder King raid was very well done.

MOP was the golden age of casters. Being able to cast on the move was way over powered but man it was fun.

MoP hands down is my favorite iteration of the game post vanilla/tbc/wrath. Highly recommend monk if you like button mashing.

Not for me…
Cata is where the game really took a head-dive into retail and started becoming bad.

They should rather branch off the game after WotLK with a new expansion, without adding all the QoL features that ruined retail. Making it a real MMORPG again.

What QoL features didn’t you like in cata?

The gameplay in cata was similar to wotlk the problem with cata is that it didnt have a lot of content

Mostly all the changes that came along with flying in the old world.
They basically threaded the whole story and the destruction of the old world around flying there.

Well that wasnt a bad thing it made the old world more interesting and new

it was not similar to wotlk, at least from a pvp perspective. Not at all really.

Kind of like how all of TBC and Wrath had flying in mind? How is that a bad thing?

I feel like this whole thread is meant to get us to argue about what is the “best” expansion and debate the validity of each other’s opinion.

That said, I agree with you that I was not a fan of Cata and that is when I quit. I didn’t like what they did to the old world (the breaking of the storylines) and at launch anyway, they completely broke my class and the gameplay that I enjoyed. There were many posts on the class forums with almost universal frustration and Ghostcrawler basically gave us the digital finger. That was it for me.

Opinions are subjective and it doesn’t bother me if others have a different one. I am not trying to change anyone’s mind. I will choose to forgo any Cata Classic experience.

I think the redesign of the old world was one of the best things Blizzard did with this game. Nothing is as emersion breaking as a world that stands still. I love that the world changes over time.

Cataclysm was the beginning of the ‘decline’ as Blizzard attempted to make the game dumber more accessible.

My experience in Cata wasn’t terrible, but it was nowhere near what it was in TBC and WOTLK.

I enjoyed MoP, but probably only because I had nothing else to play.

WoD was crap.
