Blizzard just banned 74,000 people in Classic, mostly for botting. Their article making the announcement has a nice explanation of the process they go through to identify bots.

nice… I will check if that skinning bot is still there when I get off work hehe. He had been there for literally months and months! He was my punching bag when I felt like messing with people. Trapping him in places, and making him run all over the place, and stealing his hides. fun fun fun.
