I don’t bother anymore. The best complaint to this. is to unsubscribe.
I get that Enhance needed a nerf to fall back in line in PvE content, going from an EASY #1 DPS to bottom quarter falls in line with the standard Enhance “must remain just below mediocre raid damage” that seems to be the theme every expansion. My main concern however is Enhancement Shaman in RBGs.
The question I have is, what is (or what should be) an Enhancement Shaman’s role in Rated Battlegrounds?
Ideally our role is glass-cannon heavy single-target pressure/burst damage. Berserkers of the Vikings, Gladiators of the Romans. We’re enhanced, we should be melee on steroids. We take damage, and deal it back with enthusiasm. We have one basic wall and otherwise heal through dealing damage - without maelstrom, we OOM and perish. Heavy utility, heavy damage, heavy healing - but very little in the way of damage reduction, extremely susceptable to CC, and we can’t self-dispell mindgames.
With the recent damage reduction affecting PvP, and with the news of the increased 40% stamina affecting PvP, I’m afraid our role as glass cannons will become compromised to the point of simply being glass. Without incredible pressure and burst, we simply become an unviable choice.
Comparatively, every Shaman has access to nearly to the same utility totems. Why take an Enhance if you can run a Resto or Ele for the same utility but get more utilized healing or damage? There isn’t a reason, and that’s part of why Enh struggle to break out of the 2200 bracket in RBGs as seen in past seasons. Relatively, how many strict Enhance players see Hero of the Horde/Alliance?
So again I ask, what is our role to be in Rated Battlegrounds? With Ascendance I could almost see us being solid anti-tank mines in RBGs since Wind Strike ignores armor. But now (particularly with all the stam/healing buffs) I can’t see us being more than somewhat annoying slowbots that get shifted. Without the damage for burst/heavy pressure we’re generic Star Trek red shirts amongst a sea of better choices.
If possible, please give us some of that damage back in the PvP setting. If we can’t burst down or pressure a target hard enough we’re dead weight. What other role does an Enh shaman have in the team environment that Ele/Resto can’t do better? Our heals, while self-strong, are limited for others and thus a Resto would be the play. We’re on the frontlines taking damage and using more globals to defend ourselves since we’ve lost the burst/pressure to kill targets, not on the back lines free casting. Our defensives are rough enough (though I do love double shield now), which is why Enhance (Shaman in general to be fair) are nearly always the kill target of choice (I appreciate you Affliction Locks being the other contender).
If we don’t get damage back, what could be done to make us a more viable pick in RBGs? Things that would help in PvP but not necessarily PvE:
-Maelstrom stacks add 1% damage reduction?
-Maelstrom provides a self heal at 5 stacks?
-A talent for move speed (Druids get 20% base movespeed now, imagine chasing THAT flag carrier).
-Windfury totem becomes player-centric (not a totem, instead a non-dispellable buff) and raid-wide?
-Ascendance gets a talent to reduce its cooldown?
-Bloodlust becomes Shamanism (no longer a PvP talent) in PvP content baseline?
-Ancestral Guidance also provides CC immunity?
-A talent to make Earth/Lightning shields non-purgable?
-Astral Shift can be used during CC?
-Tremor totem can be used while feared?
-A few less totems on the GCD?
-An instant CC (Hex synergizes with Maelstrom?)
I want Enhancement to be a viable pick in high rated RBGs. I don’t want the majority of teams to continue leaving us behind around 2.1k, and if they do it should be because of skill issues, not just that our spec is unviable. Enhancement Shaman are a niche class so we SHOULD be particularly good at our role. Whatever that role is, defined.
Elemental Blast was outlandishly broken, it needed to be fixed. That said, we don’t need a ranged execute ability if our pressure/burst is where it should be (not saying it’s not nice). So now that it’s fixed, the abilities damage can be nerfed assuming we receive other useful damage buffs.
Last point, I do actually love the fact it was a flat ‘all damage’ nerf and not specific abilities. Currently there are multiple builds that are competitive with each other and allow for different playstyles, that’s awesome and nerfing one specific ability could affect the synergies that turn us into a cookie cutter talent spec. That said, this time around it was too much nerf, we need something back to be viable in PvP content.
I don’t arena as much so I can’t really speak to it. But the only team I hear about is Turbocleave, it’d be nice to be viable in more than just that comp.
If it’s bad at the top it’s bad at the bottom.
Even the beta logs show enhance is well below par, and people really need to stop gaslighting each other over this. It is not “fine”. It is below mediocre, and not okay.
Loading here.
Ive done a bunch of beta m+ and all raid testing. Blizzard - this nerf actually ruins the spec. MSW scaling is out of control. Nerf damage bonus of msw by 5% (for a total of 5% per stack as opposed to ten or put the modifier back on THAT YOU REMOVED TO SEE IF TUNING WAS THERE.)
this nerf makes the class dog tier, straight up its a bottom three spec in my testing and in m+.
Lmao my man on his dh praying not to get a nerf
THIS!
There Are simply too many and too overpowered msw modifiers which shouldve been toned down instead of all skills. At this point one can just believe that Blizzard has no clue how the spec actually works and where its damage comes from although its really obvious if half the talents juice up the dmg of msw spenders.
And the dev’s response was…“radio silence”
I should have done this week’s lottery since my powers of prediction clearly didn’t fail me!!!
As a ww monk this also made me lol… then cry.
Nothing says start a new xpac like having your only melee dps spec placed back into the dumpster moments before the new xpac goes live.
Still nothing being said, warlocks can do like 170k dps (sure there is covenants and the fated affixes) but the top enhance shamans are doing like 60k?? any form of communication as to why this was needed would have been great.
Mistweaver aka (Fistweavers) are dealing entirely too little damage compared to all of the other healers… We are going to get left behind in mythics, raids, PvP etc… Your original thought was to bring back Fistweaving so we had more options, yet, you completely forgot to give us damage what so ever… Please revisit this…
