Class Tuning Incoming -- March 28

I’m still blown away by these Demo nerfs. Just go on Subcreation and check which specs are played most in high keys. This week is even fort week so AoE is valuable! You’d think that Demo was S-tier after reading that blue post but they’re actually in C-tier, third worst ranged DPS spec in the game! Miles behind spriest, boomie, destro and others.

This just doesn’t even make sense.

…what the hell? Because, what, we got a few seconds 150k dps like, you know, fury warriors have all the time?

Lol what, this makes no sense.

Again, makes no sense. Why?

Please go and watch Kalamazi’s take on this. Whats the point of making Darkglare a fun CD only to make it garbage again?

This is silly. Its going to hit like a wet noodle after locks lose their tier set…

Some very questionable decisions there Blizz

They won’t respond to the overwhelming, near unanimous feedback in the forums, the nerfs will go live, and then they’ll surprise pikachu face when these specs are underperforming.

I wonder if somebody just looked at Eranog pulls and was like “ERMERGERD demo op”

So stupid

Oh NO! BM hunters might get near middle of the pack! QUICK! Reduce their damage NOW!

Yall always pvp check me, and are so bad at it.

And if frost wasn’t already licking the bottom of the barrel.

This confuses me.

I don’t play the class because Blizzard has always done this–kill the skills I otherwise find interesting (DoTs for Feral being another example)–but I don’t understand the numbers here.

The clear answer is now something else.

1.15*1.15=1.3225
1.1*1.1*0.85=1.0285

That’s a 22% nerf. Wouldn’t a simple baseline change have made just as much sense than turning all 3 knobs?

Or, if you want to go fully into the reasonable territory, don’t change the baseline and just strip the Grimoire bonuses from the other pet-centric talents. It buffs your pets–if you don’t have a pet, you don’t get the buff.

The clear answer is then situationally use your pet.

Or. Hear me out… Buff the pets.

The nerfs to frost is like wiping before ya dump…makes no sense at all. I switched to Unholy due to how awful frost was and felt. I mainly only run Blood now, as the two DPS classes for DK just aren’t fun, and now this. Again, completely makes no sense, and the silence/explains/rationale from Blizz is completely MIA. The little blurb they provided certainly doesn’t explain a thing. Just when you thought SL was bad, then DF tops it with terrible testing, review, and implementation. Too bad, the expansion is much better then SL, just the incompetence is sinking the otherwise great ship.

Now that’s the Blizzard that I remember.

Who are the Warlock nerfs targeted at?

WARLOCK

  • Developers’ notes: We’re modifying the output of Grimoire of Sacrifice to bring it in line with the output of Warlock demons. At the end of the day Warlock is a pet-centric class and while we want there to be an option to opt-out of your pet, we don’t want it to always be the clear answer.
  • Wrathful Minion now increases the damage of Grimoire of Sacrifice by 10% (was 15%).
  • Demonic Inspiration now increases the damage of Grimoire of Sacrifice by 10% (was 15%).
  • Grimoire of Sacrifice damage reduced by 15%.
  • Affliction
    • Developers’ notes: With the removal of less impactful talents in both their class and specialization trees, Affliction received a lot of additional damage options that have increased their damage beyond what was intended. We’re making these adjustments to bring them in line with other damage dealers.
    • Damage done by spells and abilities reduced by 2%.
    • Darkglare damage reduced by 20%.
  • Demonology
    • Developers’ notes: We’re targeting Demonology’s multi-target profile with these adjustments to bring them closer to other damage dealers. We will continue to watch both single-target and multi-target performance, along with the output of new talents and adjustments delivered in 10.0.7, and make further adjustments down the road if needed.
    • Demonic Strength now increases the damage of Felstorm by 300% (was 400%).
    • Dreadbite damage reduced by 10%.

Nice fail again with the changes…

Hey druids and flying? Considering it was normal then what? Not even an explanation…
Play your own game noobs

actually, though, warriors seem strong af in mythic + right now. I’m taking a break after this week until season 2.

Please rethink the demo nerfs. These must be overreactions to the beneficial bugs earlier this week.

I main a hunter and can appreciate that I may not be objective. I think introducing sweeping buffs to offset a nerf to a core piece of gear was the right move. The main trouble I have with the nerfs is that they were announced 3 days into the patch. A patch that introduced primordial stones which were wildly unbalanced with each other. This isn’t the right move. At the very least, considering it’s the end of the season and since the buffs were allowed to go live, they should sit on the thought and see how it plays out for more than a couple of days. From a PVE utility and survivability perspective mm hunter (as well as the other 2 specs to a slightly lesser extent) should do great dmg to make up for that. We are now in great dmg territory. Unless the dev teams wants to address the other issues with survivability and utility with meaningful changes I think it should stay that way.

There is never a need for nerfs. Dragging everyone down isn’t something to aspire to.

So Blizz fixes a bug that kept demo lock damage situationally relevant AND nerfs them on top of that. So a double nerf. Also if you’re going to nerf Sac then fix Sennarth from bugging out pets.
The thought process here is beyond me. I don’t think there is one.

Their own text contradicts them: you want warlock to be a pet class…by nerfing Affliction’s pet based cooldown? On a spec that’s already the weakest mythic+ spec?

What’s going on? The warlock discord and class streamers are just as puzzled, and these are the guys who’ve been pretty accepting of justified nerfs. If you don’t like GoS then just delete it and put something else there, or if GoS being better for dps upsets “class fantasy” (lol), then buff pets to compensate. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s because they have no idea how to tune the class trinket in 10.1 to work with GoS.

The balancing team has no idea what they’re doing this patch. Their touted “BiS ring” is a tuning joke, and these warlock nerfs target the two weaker specs in mythic+.

And if we’re going to comment on class fantasy, sacrificing your demon ally for more power seems it would be right up our alley, but then again Blizzard strikes again with heavy, ham-handed nerfs.

Why? Like literally why? Is there a single dev at Blizzard that cares enough to understand this spec to balance it properly? Sure it’s ST is above average, not even the best but above average, but not only is that the only thing Survival has going for it in raids, it’s also mostly on the fact that we have the strongest tier set in the game. Why not nerf the current tier? I’m sure they’re going to nerf it 1-2 weeks into 10.1 when they realize we’re still using it instead of the new set anyways. But now when we do end up taking it off, we’ll be even buried even deeper. If Survival Hunter doesn’t have great damage, why would anyone ever even consider bringing one to a group? What does the spec offer if the best our damage can be is middle of the pack st and literally last place in aoe/cleave?
