No doubts is the worse patch I’ve played in 18 years. They don’t know what they are doing!
Really defeats the purpose of having a tree if the devs can’t be bothered to get off their butts and tune things in a timely manner.
We shouldn’t have to wait months for a talent to feel good to use.
Hero Talents were a mistake.
Blizzard can’t even get the main trees fixed, and then they had to go and make things infinitely more complicated.
Now they’re scrambling to try and make some of the Hero trees not complete-and-utter-garbage instead of actually finishing class design.
But they needed a marketing gimmick to sell the expansion. All their design choices are made for marketing reasons, not for good gameplay.
Hilariously this isn’t the first time they’ve stumbled into this particular bear pit. Back in Cata they had planned on a ‘Path of the Titans’ subclass that would tie into Archeology. It got cut before launch, officially because it was ‘too similar to Inscription glyphs’, but mainly because they quickly realized that attempting to balance against 6-8 possible subclasses making up a good 5th of character power would be an impossible nightmare.
I guess they either forgot their own history or thought they could handle it if each spec only had 2 options to choose from.
This is depressing.
I made a choice to take Call of the Wild over Multi-Shot because MS is very situational, whereas CotW can be used more often, and adds more to other abilities. It wasn’t an easy choice, but it’s been more useful so far.
With this change, I feel I’m being forced to take Multi-Shot/Beast Cleave even though sometimes I want surgical pet control so I can separate mobs, not have my pet mass-invite all nearby mobs to my kill party at once. It was because of this that I was using Multi-Shot less often.
Mr. Kaivax, first I wanted to thank the game masters for their continued frequent tuning - while the tuning is certainly a step in the right direction I’d like to ask you once again to consider taking Sigil of Spite and Flame off of GCD for Havoc DH. Sigil of Flame’s damage is negligible and really only used as a soul fragment generator for the Aldrachi Reaver hero talent tree. Sigil of Spite can deal significant damage but DH’s rarely see the single target effectiveness in arena when there are often pets that can share in the damage taken, or even just an additional player in its radius. A solution could be to remove pets from sigil of spite’s potential targets. Taking the damage sigils off GCD would help to make the DH rotation much more fluid and improve the QOL to reach the 6 marks for the reaper’s glaive ability. Blizzard has a ton of turnover, very few people remain who were around, back then. No institutional memory. That’s why they repeat so many mistakes.
Yeah, I don’t disagree. It was okay and defensives were on point, which was the most valuable part of it. It’s already hard enough to stay up now in 13+.
As a player who has stuck with Ele and Resto Shaman even when it was very not meta, I want to thank Blizz for bringing us back to the fold. This was probably the best week for Ele I can remember, it was certainly nice to have a CD that felt impactful. It felt incredible to be excited about my damage contributions in M+, whereas I normally find pride in the utility shaman brings, especially to these brutal TWW and S1 dungeons.
In addition, the timing of the nerf annoucements feels particularly bad. This comes after another long awaited day where many players, including myself bought the unique Brutosaur at a price, which seems to well optimized as the maximum they could charge without legendary outrage. The price of the WoW token also spiked, increasing over 50%. This to say that after moment of peak gameplay, and investment, players are backhanded with class nerfs that make them feel hoodwinked.
Clearly there is the need for some balance, but to have your new toy taken away feels bad especially after you bought all the accessories for it.
RIP Ele Shaman. They got everybody hyped for a re-work of what was considered by most an A-tier spec for Mythic+, to bump it up to S+ with bugs and then nerf it to S-A+ tier with some nerfs to now ranked bottom of C-tier all within one week. And after having us switch from crit haste gear to haste mastery and then back to crit haste once again. But hey, with all that crafting maybe we need another wow token to help with the crafting costs!

My ret was doing 900-1mil overall from around 570 in dungeons with good pull sizes, it’s nutty.
It’s just very smooth, simple and well designed right now at a time where others are still rough, complex and feel half finished.
When everyone else is still using 1min, 2min, 3min cds and ret has 30sec, 45sec Cds? It’s just so out of place.
I’m not entirely surprised though. Tank balance has felt looser recently as well. They stated a goal they wanted to achieve for all tanks but the end result feels like some hit their intended mark while others were largely left alone.

I’m coming back after several years, hoping that Blizzard had learned from its mistakes. And what do I find? The same old policy: changes that destroy classes without any respect for the players’ investment. It’s a real slap in the face for the community and a massive disappointment. Honestly, it reminds me exactly why I left WoW in the first place. How can Blizzard be surprised that players are leaving when they keep sabotaging what makes the game great?
