Class Sets

I was excited for the new tier… until I saw the class sets. Truly, who designed these? Because they are pretty bad.
The first thought that came to my mind was… are these just the leveling sets with glow? So another copy/paste set? Wonderful…
So let’s set context. Players have been waiting for the return of the class sets for years. They were removed because the art team ran out of ideas and blizz was going cheap. So after all this time you would think blizz would have learned something. Nope.
For example, blizz could have made it where you received the base gear from whereever it’s supposed to drop from, then the player would take it to a class transmogifier where they were able to implement changes to the gear. Different colors, class and spec based visuals and glows that the player could put on the gear, etc… That would show blizz actually listened to the community for the opportunity to individualize gear looks. Nope.

Just stuck with another tier set that you can barely determine which class is which and have ZERO class-visual aspects to them. At all.

Of course, the white knighters will show up and proclaim their loyalty to blizz and claim they like them, etc… but most of the community knows what I am talking about.

Did you look closely at the screenshot? It’s pretty distinct from any existing set and fits the aesthetic of the new zone pretty well.

My issue is the lack of class identity in those sets, I cant tell which belongs to which class until wowhead decided to label them for me. Every single one of them look like the basic Kyrian renown gear.

Tbh I like the design, but the washed/faded out color scheme (just like Shadowlands in general) makes it feel very bland.

The rogues and death knights really hit the lotto in this set.

The others are woefully bland.

Dude your character in your profile picture is literally wearing the Oribos armor which looks exactly like all the cloth tier sets lmaooo

I mean it’s fine because there it’s pretty clear just from the forums that the people that seem to have no issues with these tier sets are the minority.

That’s my conclusion as well.
Zero class asthetics in the gear. My guildies and I spend an hour on discord just trying to identify which sets belong to which class.
For class sets, that’s bad.

Wrong.
I have see a large majority of people have issues with the sets.

Uh… did you read what I wrote correctly?

What’s worse about the sets is that they used white glow with gold/whitish gear. That makes the sets look completely washed out.
Then you look at the art verse how they look in game and its no where near the same.

Apparently, I misread. Haha.

My bad bro.

Lmao I was like… I agree with you

When you get all the white knighters trying to discredit everything anyone says, you tend to automatically read something in a negative light. Lol

The key points of this thread are:

  1. Blizz learned NOTHING since the last time class sets were published.
  2. The class sets are washed out.
  3. They show almost ZERO class asthetics on them.
  4. Blizz’s technology is too old to keep up with other games’ graphics. One looks at NW and FF graphics and they easily come to the conclusion that wow has poor graphics.
  5. Blizz is too stingy with the glow. When you have poor graphics, the base sets look HORRIBLE, so you have to make up for it in other ways, like glow.
  6. People want options. Providing individual options to gear asthetics is something blizz has to come to accept.

GD is an echo chamber of whingers

These sets are cool for the raid, but for class sets completely miss the mark. Here’s hoping they see enough people are unhappy and they change it.

I’m sure it comes across like that to you when you’re defending obviously lazy designs.

No it’s just typical behavior for complainers to band together on the forums. If anyone shows a sliver of acceptance, they get branded as shills or white knights. So it ends up being whingers wallowing together. So folks will either actually unsub for a silly reason like what the tier sets look like, or they’ll complain and then just get the gear like the rest of us.

Yeah…they clearly didn’t try very hard. I mean sure, it’s not the first time that they have made tier sets to reflect the raid they are obtained from, but they still had some variety to them, design wise and color wise.

They won’t.

Just hope the Mythic colorations / Elite colorations look good.
