Class sets mogs like Legion raids not working ? why?

So it seems if a different class set item drops I can not transmog it for that specific class … why ?
I found this article from 2023 on wowhead:
"Currently, players who wish to unlock transmog must acquire the transmog on a class that can equip it. In a press release, Blizzard has announced that a new change to transmog will let players learn the appearance of any gear type, even if they cannot equip it.

This means that it should make it much easier to unlock all the transmogs in the game, especially on class specific items like old tier sets."

Is this another half baked feature or this is another idiotic decision ?
Imagine doing a dungeon but you can not roll for shoulders ! why ? who knows … friciton ?
Anyone knows if there are any plans to be able to mog other class set items or ?..

Class-restricted items are still class restricted and can only be learned and added to your appearance collection by that class.

If you have found issues with items not class-restricted, please make a bug report.

Basically what Kyzera said.

  • if what you have actually has classes on it and it’s not a token like say Molten Core class teir sets. Then you can only unlock those on the class the item is labeled as being intended for.
  • If the item doesn’t have class restrictions but you can’t use it like a weapon or say a generic BOE leather item and your on a cloth wearing class. Then in those instances you will now learn the appearance where you did not previously.
  • Lastly, the class tokens which you “use” and it turns into an item - those are now warband bound - so you should be able (once the bank is fixed) to put them in the warband bank and take them out on the class it is intended for, and use it to learn it.

All this info is in the actual notes for the update more or less.

Then these changes are not good at all. I just did Mythic TOS and cleared all but 1 boss. There’s 9 pieces of gear in my bags from the boss drops, not a single one of them is mage gear, but they’re all class gear. I got some random leather and mail bits and bobs that were not class restricted but it was not at all worth the run, let alone waiting til next freaking week to come back and do this all over again. Not a single mage piece dropped.

This is PRECISELY why I was excited for this change, because if I didnt get transmog for my main, at least I’d get some for my alts. But I didnt get ANY for my alts.

Its asinine to only let transmog be learnable from the tokens which are warband bound. If you’re going to implement a super unlikely to drop method to let us share it across our characters, then give us the freaking transmog from the other stuff already.

There is over 40 raids in WoW. Like, 50 or so. If I want to farm transmog, it will take easily several months PER RAID of running multiple characters through to farm out the sets. If they had implemented the change most of us actually wanted, then it would only take me a few weeks and I’d have nothing to complain about.

Other than running out of content.

Nice strawman. Do you paint everyone with the same brush? I don’t want to spend years running old raids, at some point it loses its luster. I’d rather have a nice few week stint with a raid and leave it at that.

People like you are why Blizzard just stops listening to people. A ton of people want something reasonable and you just sit there and say “no, its wrong of you to want that, and youll stop playing the game if they give it to you”

I no life this game in bursts, I play it for months at a time, WoW is not going anywhere. This is my game of choice. Blizzard letting me earn some transmog I want faster is not going to make me quit the game, and it’s actually quite stupid of you to suggest that.

Really unfortunate, I was very excited by that feature. I guess in the meantime, need to find a list of raids that don’t drop class restricted gear and only do those.

If the only transmog appearances you’re still collecting are class sets then this patch didn’t help you much. But for the rest of us it still makes a difference. I just did a run through ZF and picked up at least half a dozen appearances I didn’t already have. Some of them were BoP items that I would have missed out on completely before today, and the rest I would have had to farm out to the appropriate alts & then spend a few minutes logging into each one to equip them - so much easier to just vendor them. In fact, with the postmaster automatically mailing those items after the run is over I don’t think I even need to loot them anymore.

I agree i did mog runs for the last month or two on a few different toons filling their banks for this feature to come out and now im a little bummed out because i feel like i wasted my time a little trying to get the class sets. Im going to hold on to the gear just in case they add it later but im not sure if they will.

So to understand this … if I run Hellfire Citadel on my DK for example and from a boss it drops a druid helm set (which has druid class restriction) … I can not learn that transmog or I need to wait for warband bank and put it there and go w may druid pick it up and learn it ?

You will only be able to learn it on a Druid.

Class-specific appearances are an exception and will still be collectible only by that specific class.

Also, since you mention a DK looting a Druid helm, that would make said item soulbound and thus unable to be stored in the Warband Bank.

Any non-soulbound item can be stored in the Warband Bank.

I see. Thank you for clarification.
Well another half baked feature that it is more a let down !

Legacy Tier Set Transmogs Will Be Warbound in War Within - Wowhead News Not working as intended

Thank you for the link … I looked at it and still missing the legion raids class sets … I think that is the last part to make this a full feature.
I hope enough people will ask for this to be done and a big W for WW … if I can say that lol

there was a huge blue post on them saying they made tier tokens and class spec items useable in warbands it was a huge complaint by the community and they said they got it fixed, that seems to be a lie and a lot of the " legacy " raids are still broken and not soloable man just lie after life with this Patch so far.

Tokens are warbound just as the article said - I picked up several in Ulduar tonight, including some that could not be used by my class. I was able to mail them to another toon & use them to obtain set pieces for that class I didn’t already have. It does mean you have to have a toon in your warband that can use the token but that toon doesn’t have to be the one to loot it anymore.

I think it’s the class set pieces that aren’t obtained via tokens that you have to farm on that class.

Yeah, I was disappointed.

I had several of the Mage-only pieces from Mythic Antorus and Tomb of Sargeras stashed away, and unfortunately because they’re on my priest, they’re useless. So I vendored them all. And while I’d like these pieces to become Warbound, I’ll be super bummed about vendoring them all. Oof.

It also says "ALL "Tier sets Shadowslands and prior WILL be WARBOUND

I only see tokens not legion tier sets … I just did a Tomb of Sargeras on WW beta and those still will not work. Did they say they will eventually allow those to be warbound too … I can not find that info.
