So playing around beta I think I’ve narrowed down main to Shaman and Priest.
I like being able to heal, and DPS — originally was going to rogue but I want to Solo shuffle a lot and being able to heal or play a hybrid I feel fits a wider variety of comps and team play styles more effectively.
Do you think RSham/Enhance or Disc/SPriest would be a safer pick overall? Enhance is a fun spec but I do not like how burst is tied into Elly Blast, id opt for consistent pressure— and if they (justifiably) get nerfed that would suck as that’s the spec I would be on 50% of time. Once again main goal is Rated 3s and Shuffle.
Side note I figured Rsham would have a better time healing through affliction but idk.
Sorry for the rant, hope everyone is adjusting to winter season and is retaining hair from the pre patch shenanigans. 
If you’re unable to pick based on your preferred aesthetic and instead of want to choose based on performance then take the pre patch time to level them both.
Reality is both of them are at the mercy of tuning, which is still so far away from being completed that nobody has a clear idea on how anything is going to come out.
What may look nice today is only a patch away from being mediocre, as is blizz’s way.
Thanks for the reply. That’s the thing I have them both up at 60 playing all the specs and enjoy them both. Might end up flipping a coin.
Priest is the safest pick there is. Trust.

I like how affliction is the yard stick for your measure.

I’m unsure if it would have a better time with healing throughput, but it’s certainly more disruptive (wind shear, tremor, grounding, etc.)
I find priest to have been favored more in the past, specifically on the dps side. I think generally spriest has had more advantages season to season than ele or enh. I also find it to have more viable comps, which is a large factor as well.
I’d give priest the edge in healing too, but I think it was closer. I don’t heal though so idk.
You bring up some good points, thanks for your feedback! I’m going to hop back on beta and play a few days worth of each spec.
As it sits now it’s looking much more alt friendly than SL with not upgrading gear so having both classes shouldn’t be too hard (knocks on wood)
And yeah I benchmark affliction, even as a lock player it’s just one of the specs I despise healing against lol so I feel it’s a good indicator
