Class design is strange. Low skill classes should deal less damage

It’s just common sense and is a common practice in other games.

Complex classes that require higher APM should just deal more damage than brain off 2 button classes.

People should be rewarded for their mastery of complex specs

It’s always fun reviewing the account achievements (more accurately, the lack thereof) of people who post takes like this.

Also, I like how this is obviously in direct response to the post you’ve just made in a thread, in which you claim “difficulty literally isn’t subjective”.

Obvious troll is very, very obvious.

They shouldn’t, but they should be less flexible to various situations or require more uptime to maintain that damage.

Dummy DPS should be near as makes no difference equal across the board.

And BM hunters should be 5-10% behind to account for their 100% uptime, and before you complain there have been times in the past where BM hunter has seen significantly more play than MM despite being more than 10% behind the pack purely because of its mobility and uptime.

Copy-pasting my response from the other thread into this one.

In a game where a major goal is to increase the numbers, having a 2-3 button spec do less damage than a 5-6 button spec would be critically awful. I can only see it being a reasonable approach if the damage discrepancy is negligible (enough for the hardcore players to push for but not enough for the broader playerbase to care about), but the premise could potentially funnel people into playing harder specs they don’t enjoy playing if it means playing a BM hunter would make them a detriment to their group.

It is completely and totally fine for easier specs to output the same damage. It allows for more varied play while allowing for the skill expression people desire.

Hey someone has to be the mechanic witch :joy:

There are no specs in the game complex enough to warrant increased dps just for existing. They’re all pretty easy to master.

I get irritated when I’m in a 8 key and I’m with my BM and ret pally friends and I’m on my shadow priest having to play damn near perfectly to even come close to thier overall dmg. With that being said I know that a 8 key isn’t a good measure and if it was a higher key I’d probably wack them. With all that being said I don’t agree with limiting easier classes dps and agree with all the previous posters here. It’s still irritating though, so I get it lol.

Yeah no.

Just compare arcane mage to BM hunter.

Not even close.

People already biting and responding to each other. This thread’s got promise

Anyone that has played WoW dps for a while could pick up arcane mage or any other spec without much effort.

Weren’t you the one, like two months ago, that said they prefer more complex classes because it’s more engaging, in an effort to add more buttons, and then agreed the less complex ones should do the exact same damage?

They aren’t going to master it considering there is a massive difference between a bad arcane mage and a good arcane mage.

Pretty much proves you don’t know what you’re talking about.

What is up with these forum posts about class design lately.

Needs more /waggle threads.

I think the only way you could really make it work is if Blizzard completely restructured their class design philosophy: Give the lower damage dealers some utility that isn’t available to any other class, similar to Classic/TBC/WotLK, that way there’s still purpose to drag them along in keys or raids.

But if they’re just going to do a flat nerf to classes that are easier, it’ll kill any class representation in higher-end content, which is already a struggle as is.

I always love when people who don’t participate in high end content comment on high end content.

Are you saying that you as a BM hunter could not learn how to play arcane? Give it a try. You’ll find it’s not that difficult.

Literally asking for certain classes to never be picked for higher content.

I don’t even know who you are, but alright.

Because you knowing me changes the fact you’re commenting on content you don’t do?
