Class balance

I get it, someone has to be the top dps, every class won’t be equal etc. So why even buff feral or Ret to begin with? Both had guaranteed roster spots and were known to scale well in icc. I know the feral glyph changed made the play style much smoother and enjoyable for some. That sounds great, so why then did the 5% nerf blizz tried to push get such pushback?feral would literally still be #1 if that nerf had gone thru.

I’ve played a combat rogue the entire expansion and since phase 2 have been below feral on single target fights(assuming equal parse). Now I parse a 90+ and lose by over a thousand dps to a feral 70 or below. Just seems a little much. If you look at equal parse and the gap is enormous. Yes I know logs don’t credit tricks dps to the rogue, that would barely make a dent in the gap. A lot of top rogue logs aren’t exposing either which many of us have to do. No such debuff duty for a feral, mage or warlock. That only makes the situation worse.

I’m asking for a nerf to the specs clearly over tuned and/or maybe a buff to the classes that don’t have a competitive dps spec currently which is rogue and shaman. Balance Druid could use some love too independent of how crazy feral is right now.

Feral, hunter and Ret didn’t need the buffs. No reason to just leave them dominating the rest of the game. Let us all have a little more fun.

Just to get a few of the troll comments answered now.
Q: The game is almost over why does it matter?
A: we will be in icc longer than any other phase. It’s only been 6 weeks, still many many lockouts.
Q: why do you care about being top dps?
A: don’t have to be the top, haven’t been the entire expansion. But it would be nice to be competitive, especially if I’m playing much better than someone who’s not playing well. Also, most people that main dps classes enjoy doing a lot of dps. Shocker I know.
Q: Ferals and mages are being stacked right?
A: mage yes, feral idk. But I have zero idea why anyone brings this up. My guild didn’t stack unholy dks(many did) but it was still annoying to have them dominate dps the entire expansion.

The rest of your post seems to suggest otherwise.

:woman_shrugging:

Bro people really mad over Ferals lol. Get over it.

Because the devs wanted to buff them

Thank you for the value you’ve added and great points you’ve made.

Perhaps I should have said “someone has to be top but maybe not 3 stories above everyone else”

Blizzard had to buff class populations with the most players ie. druid and paladin. Why would they shoot themselves in the foot by not appealing to the majority? They did what they had to do to salvage what they have left of their player base even if the majority of them act like smug children. The amount of posts regarding these buffs and their defense is completely evident of their behavior. Most people are tired of this discussion but the resident poster shills will always be on standby to regurgitate and spew the same bile they have been in every single thread related to this topic.

Ferals were buffed because Bear-weaving to min/max was never intended. And it really over complicated the rotation. Severely over complicated it.

Rets were buffed because during Phase 1 they were doing roughly 1/5th of DKs and Locks damage.

In terms of competitiveness, we can look at 25 HC Festergut, as it’s pretty much pure tank and spank with minimal movement for melee (and never out of range).

^as you can see, Assa rogues are pretty competitive

The only spec in the game, today, that may need some sort of buff is Elem shamy.

Without ret buff, rets would roughly be at elem level. So basically at the bottom. And without Feral FF glyph they’d still be pretty high up.

Without DK Gary nerf, DK’s would be 6-7k DPS ahead of everyone.

So, overall, balance is pretty good.

Having said that, no one is really stacking ferals. DKs are mages are still being stacked. Rets are not stacked either. So if you want to lash out in frustration, do it on those 2.

They cherry picked class changes instead of leaving everything alone or reviewing all classes.

horrible. God no. “How to ruin game 101”.

Yeah, the problem isn’t with what class is at the top of the dps charts, but rather why they got that way. Blizzard has seemingly chosen to buff/fix classes at random or based on some sort of favoritism (I think we all know which). Shamans have had some of the most obviously backwards and broken itemization and damage spells since Wotlk began, and Blizzard has never even hinted at being aware of it.

Blizzard should either explicitly state that they intend on looking at the balance of all classes, or not touch balance ever. None of this in-between where they decide to buff a random class to do 1-2k more dps than everyone else out of nowhere.

They gave their reasons why they buffed/fixed classes, it wasn’t at random, shaman just wasn’t lucky enough to be bad enough at that point

Shaman just wasn’t lucky enough to be a class played by the devs in charge of balance
