If Blizzard based their decisions solely on crying, whining, and posting, I promise you, the Ret buff would have already been reversed based on your forum comments alone.
Nah bro, they said they wouldnāt buff or nerf anyone, you and your little friends cried and stomped your feet daily for 2 months like toddlers until you got buffed
I wonder if thereās a macho content on who gets to buff Might?
bro Ret lives rent free 24/7 in his mind.
Iām convinced a Ret paladin killed his parents. Has to be.
Has no logical argument to use, resorts to talking about peopleās parents being killed. Classic ret.
You miss the biggest point that several people have made in this exact post.
You can have the arguably the easiest class to play in the game (Paladin), but majority of players do not want the responsibility of tanking or healing.
Arguing that point alone would strongly indicate that you are only about yourself and dont look at the player base as a whole. Everyone believes they can perform as dps, but not everyone can perform. Tanking/Healing is far more stressful. If blizzard came down and buffed my classes DPS output and I was tanking, my thought would instantly go to swapping to DPS.
You mentioned me and my experience as a tank/player/dps class. While it may hold some weight, there wouldnt be a few thousand people on multiple different forum posts across different realms complaining about the same thing.
Paladins are coddled, end of story. You cannot argue that.
The buff was more of a detriment. I can list 4 major streamers publishing RAW server stats that everyone can go and view. Those stats show two MAJOR things.
- WOTLK player base is declining at a rapid rate, with analytical surveys performed by WoW staff indicating improper playing mechanics. (Unholy DKās, Druid/Warrior Tanks, Ret Paladins, Etc)
- Much like what happened on Earthfury, two other servers are being abandoned at a rate higher than seen in any other expansion. Why? There is no ability to garner raiding quality due to the player base abandoning tanking/healing.
In correlative data, there are many variables. But one aligns directly, When Unholy DK caught fire, the amount of tanks reflected on each server declined 63% over a 2 week period. Streamers like Scottiejaye, Sarthe, Anub, and others all bashed warriors/druids before the launch, so very few players actually considered them before the game even came out. Now we are at the ret paladin buff, in less than 5 days, the amount of registered Paladin Tank logs in Warcraft logs has dropped 38%. AND IT HASNT BEEN A WEEK!
Data speaks measures, feelings, whining and complaining does not.
You want to make a point, go on Warcraft logs, other reputable websites and look at the trends and see if what I am saying is hot garbage or just a fact that you cant accept.
Tonight in my 25 man, We brought 8 Ret Paladins and we cleared at record pace. The cleave is ridiculous now and it craps all over warriors and even most casters. How long til streamers start saying bring this and bring that?
We arent enemies here.
Blizzard is, they failed us, and continue to do so. Hold them accountable, not me.
So Iād argue at that point, they wouldnāt have been a tank to begin with. While I understand where youāre going with this, fact is, a 400dps increase is not enough to make a majority of prot paladinās decide to abandon tanking, and go ret. NOW If the buff had move ret paladinās from a bottom B tier to a middle A tier, THAT I can see being worth it, especially if you already donāt really wanna tank and find it too stressful. But as it stands, they moved up 2 spots at best. I donāt see that being enough to make prot paladins go ret. Iād argue if they didnāt wanna play prot or didnāt wanna go holy, theyāre more to play an alt, instead of a marginally improved spec. If ret wasnāt good enough to swap from prot to ret before, how does 500 dps increase change that?
Everything else you said after this was irrelevant to my main overall point so I didnāt read it or reply to it.
Exactly.
I talked to a paladin friend of mine who was Ret and rerolled Holy because of opportunities. I think he was just struggling with Ret overall. The buff wasnāt enough to sway him.
Only true Ret pallies (and the raid overall of course) are gonna benefit from the buff. People re-rolling their spec are either dipping their toes to see it themselves briefly, or they are being silly.
It isnāt a 400 DPS increase.
Have you looked at logs from this week?
Some Ayers (min maxxers) saw almost a full 2k increase. And majority of player almost saw a whole 1k increase in damage.
Weaving the hand of reckoning in hard macros with all tied abilities had done wonders for ret paladins. Along with also stat changing to actually benefit the class (from raw ap stacking) has already made a major impact on raid comps.
Donāt throw out a bogus number, go look at raw data. Hell I even went and tried it out (bare in mind, basic level gear). Without the buff I maxed 3.2k on a 180 second rotation log.
After the buff, weaving my abilities and macros. I logged 4.01k on a 180 second rotation log.
While not everyone will know to do that right away, it was common knowledge already being spread by streamers.
And guess whatā¦ret vastly outperforms fury now. They bring more utility, better buffs, major raid saving abilities and better damage.
What does a fury warrior bring? 5 percent crit? Bring a feral. Battle shout? Bring a ret. Sunder armor? Bring a rogue.
Blizzard loves paladins and fails to balance appropriately
Itās really amazing how we have come full circle.
In Vanilla (actual 2000ās Van) Paladins were convinced that Blizzard hated Paladins, and not without reason.
Now? Blizzard gives one buff to Ret paladins;
The Joker āWell then everyone loses their minds!!!ā
And yet somehow theyāre still only slightly above fury. The DPS increase did NEXT TO NOTHING for them. They are STILL under nearly every single DPS spec in the game, thereās only like 4 specs lower than them. Even if we said the min-maxers were seeing a 2k dps increase, those are the hardcore sweaty minmaxers, thatās not the majority. The average ret paladin is not seeing those kinds of numbers, and yes Iāve looked at the data. Now mind you, it was last weekās data, not this weekās, but I have looked.
Iām not here to argue other classes and what they bring, what they donāt. Iām simply here to argue the logic of protās and holyās are not gonna be abandoning their S tier roles to play a B tier dps. Doesnāt matter if itās 3.2k without the buff or 4.01k with the buff, thatā still dog dps and will be out dpsād by a majority of dps specs. I really donāt see anyone dropping prot or holy to play ret simply because ret got buffed. I can see them feeing stressed by tanking/healing and choosing to play ret because itās the only dps spec they got, but they didnāt decide to go ret simply because of the buff, which is my entire point here.
Correct. I played Ret because I wanted to swing a giant hammer/greatsword and smite the ded-deds.
Idk the ret in my raid team is solid and hes a 99 parser and if you look at the single target fights the most he got was like 700 dps.
Heres his logs.
https://classic.warcraftlogs.com/character/us/benediction/lexmuther
Heres the logs from tues which was after the buffs.
https://classic.warcraftlogs.com/reports/BJ37GfKnCWmDhgcA#fight=9&type=damage-done
Even on a fight like Razorscale he only got 600 dps and thats a pure ST fight.
And this is a top tier ret.
Yeah Iāll have to review my own logs, but I got around 600-700 on a fight once. I donāt think 2000 is possible.
There is literally no way.
That would mean each HOR did 17k damage LMFAO.
But lets double check this.
HOR is an 8 sec CD right?
So you can get 7 off per minute.
7 x 17,142=120,000
120,000 Ć· 60 seconds=2,000 dps.
QUICK MAFFS
The 99 parsing ret on my raid team average cast for HOR is between 5k-5500.
Only 12k off lmfao
They should implement your HOR and flag it for PVP so I can uno reverso Ele shammys in PVP.
āLava Bur-ā
ded.
āhaha HOR go brrrrā
So the highest damage ret pally on Razor did 849 dps with HOR.
Each cast of HOR was 6.1k far away from the 17k you would need for 2k dps.
His claim is cap.
Nonsense. Get out of here with your logic and log reports. Clearly Ret paladins are not only the top melee DPS, but now they are a ranged caster as well.
Pack it up, mages and warlocks! Time to reroll to the master class. Games over. GGWP2EZNORE
Bro, you used one boss, with a limited scale of damage to Time To Kill with a player not even in the top 100 of parsing paladins.
Rofl, do some real research. Go to warcraftlogs, looking at DPS to boss, look at last week to now only for overall on paladins.
I dont even have to post a link, everyone here can go see that.
Next time dont come with some garbage you found on a google link.
So then post a link of a paladin getting 2,000 dps from HOR.
Wheres it at?
I picked literally the top pally for a fast single target kill which would literally be in favor of the 2k dps claim as the fight length is insanely fast.
There is 0 chance that HOR is adding 2k dps.
Which is why you CANT post a log of it.
