That screwing over a mount I did the grind for on TWO accounts is something I should ignore…just like the missing portals and the stolen Master Loot?
I want a flying water walker.
Yet, my friend. They haven’t yet. 
There are SO many other ways that they could have solved this problem. Possibly the easiest would be to simply add more mounts with the water walking ability, and yet when that’s been asked by players previously, Blizzard said that they didn’t want to take away the uniqueness of the Water Strider.
Frankly, I don’t like the look of the water strider, so I use it as little as possible. If I have to cross water, I mount up, cross, and then switch to a mount I prefer when back on land. I use it far more on leveling alts than I do in BfA zones where I have flight master’s whistle and other travel conveniences thanks to Blizzard trying to placate us for not having flyinig for so long into the expansion.
Bottom line, there are many ways to play the game; just because you don’t consider something a valuable feature doesn’t mean everyone else shares that view point. I’m all in favor of more choices, not fewer. I want as many plays styles as possible to be valid with as few people as possible being inconveniences because I realize that not everyone plays the game the same way I do or values the same features.
This new system is giving more options to one group while taking away options from another. I’d much rather see Blizzard implement this in a way that doesn’t have to take away from one to give to another.
How on earth is that a middle ground? You know that the expense of the item isn’t the only complaint, right? That’s actually making it less convenient to use if you have to be in a specific place to swap items. That solves one problem but creates another.

uh…yeah…so your claim is that PAYING to have water walking for EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER (50 or so) is ok even though two weeks ago They all had it for FREE because I did the grind for the mount.
do you work for Blizzard, btw?

the nature of the ability is changing. before you had water walking on one mount for free. now you have water walking on every mount for a token amount of gold. that’s an upgrade to me.
i don’t mean this offensively, but i find the complaint raised in this thread about the water walking so far into the boundaries of ridiculous that i find it hard to wrap my head around. i probably am coming off too aggressive here as i didn’t realize how dedicated some of you are to this argument though.
seems like the game fans are in full defense mode in here today, for sure.
As if he has any chance of convincing me that stealing my water mount AS IT WAS is acceptable.

Point is I already said it is silly the way they went about this but TO ME this is a non issue, I could care less if you can’t scrounge up a few grand to buy it for the alts you REALLY need waterwalking on.
I never thought this was a smart way of going about it, I just don’t see it affecting me. You don’t have to share my opinion. Try to treat every reply as a subjective opinion and not a fact to avoid getting into these silly back-n-forth discussions that ultimately go nowhere.

I dont care about using the strider for what it was made for…walking on water.
What I find ridiculous is the idea that water walking would exist on mounts that it doesnt make any reasonable sense to have it.
the WATER STRIDER is just that…a WATER STRIDER.

Agreed - I played Vanilla and you should have heard the screaming when suddenly you got riding at 20 instead of 40, and way cheaper!
Hell, you used to have to buy THAT mount for EVERY character, now you have a collection and all characters can use any faction-available mount you’ve ever had. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth over that one too…
As I couldnt care less about you and your meaningless opinion.
It affects me if it STEALS my reason for grnding the mount and then STEALS my gold to get back what did the grind for to begin with.

Opinions, we all have them. I don’t go around replying specifically to people who are against this change. I just voiced my own opinion.
Here’s the problem. It’s an upgrade to you because you place more importance on the specific mount that has the ability and less on the the ability to have water walking immediately without any additional steps on any alt level 20 or higher.
Me, I couldn’t care less about the specific mount. I said above that I don’t like the look of the water strider at all; but I love LOVE that as soon as any of my alts turn level 20, I pop it on their action bar and it’s ready to go. For ME, this new system is a down grade.
I, though, can appreciate the convenience and the added functionality that this new system offers for players like you. I would have LOVED to see Blizzard implement this in a way that benefits both of us. Surely you can understand that?

i got news for you - giant bugs ridden by corpses and cows can’t in reality walk on water in the first place.
After stealing master loot and a list of portals, I was just waiting for them to pull the next one. Been saying it for a few weeks in here. Just give it time. They ARE going to keep this crap up…and the knights will keep acting like its a good thing.
Thankfully they did this before I weakened and resubbed.
The portal removal was the last straw for me.
This one just seals the deal permanently.

the difference to your experience is that now you need to visit a mailbox 1 time between 0-20 to have the item on you so you can equip it at 20. i would assume your main can buy a bunch of them and mail them to your alt at any time. the entire additional time required of you is measured in seconds.
Looks like, instead of popping that one mount onto your toolbar, you can just activate the equipment for that character and all mounts are ready to go. Or is it the extra step of sending them the item? I agree, it is an extra step, but now you can use any mount on the water. I’m leaning toward plus on this one myself, but only slightly.

Secondly, Ive yet to see a COW do the same.
Thirdly, I did the grind on TWO accounts for a water STRIDER, only to have its ability STOLEN and then given back for gold, apparently.
yeah…I get that you may be ok with being played, but Im not.

The UI enables so you can use it to put it into the slot of the mount. At least that’s what I gathered from the blue post… so you have to send them the item I think it seems.
So many people are happy they’ll be able to get their boat onto the water or the jaina mount lol
