Clarity please on Water Strider

If Blizzard knows they can take an inch, they’ll do that until they’ve actually taken a mile.

And they continually do.
Theyve probably chased off twice as many players in the last month than theyve gained.
It’ll be funny watching the game servers get unplugged knowing that the white knights are mostly responsible for it.

Mount Equipment is account wide at level 20, so why are lower levels a factor here?

Thats not how I heard it.
From what has been said it has to be purchased for EVERY character.
I have 40 or so.
So Im expected to BUY something I ALREADY DID THE GRIND FOR?

No…I wont do it. Not even if its a single gold per character.

I’d rather protest this system and advocate for a system that doesn’t require anyone to give up anything, a system that actually adds content to the game without any strings attached instead of taking something away first.

Sometimes I think Ion and company actually believe that crap line that theres no bad press. That any conversation about the game is good for the game, even if its controversy.
That may work for rock stars and politics, but it doesnt work in the real world.

But they aren’t taking it away here… they are expanding the system and providing more choices and utility! The whole new system is a HUGE NET WIN.

If they treated the water striders the way they have indicated that they are going to treat the sky golems, then you would be correct, it would be a net win. That is not what they have planned, however. Instead, the sky golems will keep their special ability, but will not be able to benefit from the equipment, while the water striders will have their special ability stripped away completely.

It is a 15-year-old game, continuously patched and reworked and renewed. Sometimes things that worked ok for years at a stretch become untenable after a time.

Imagine a new player to the game who sees all these fancy waterbugs gliding across the water.

New Guy: “Hey that waterbug looks pretty cool, how do I do that?”
You: “Oh, you have to go back to Pandaria, find the Anglers, do their daily quests, and you can get it in a month?”
NG: "Get the who from the what? I spent 5 levels in Pandaria then moved on. We’re in BfA now, so the only option is to stop playing the current game and do something old?
You: "Well, you could go back to Draenor, get your Garrison to level 3, recruit Nat Pagle…
NG: “…”

vs.

New Guy: “Hey that waterbug looks pretty cool, how do I do that?”
You: “Got to that vendor and buy a thing.”
New Guy: “Woo!”

So you want your water strider to water walk AND have another mount equipment bonus.

While the sky golem isn’t allowed to equip any mount item at all. Effectively making water strider the only mount out of 600 or so worth using.

All right, Blizz is going to shake things up yet again.
The only thing is that all the work put into obtaining the item will be devalued.
The attribute is removed and nothing is offered to compensate for the loss.
This could have been handled differently, so as not to totally devalue our efforts.
This is behavior indicative of head up the butt syndrome.

And as far as an advantage goes, no poop Sherlock.
That was the point of all the darned GRINDING!
Sounds like someone thinks that everyone should get an award
so that nobody feels left out, snowflake syndrome.

And you’re being rewarded with a free water walking equipment, AND an alternative source to water walking equipment through your Anglers Rep vendor.

The rest of us will have to farm or get it the way it was intended.

I’m not the one advocating for a system that causes a part of the player base to lose functionality that they currently enjoy. Quite the opposite. I’m advocating for a system that’s more inclusive, not less. I couldn’t care less about the stupid bug specifically.

You’re seriously gonna sit there and act like the entire game is ruined because you have to take about a minute of your day to right click, buy a stack and send them to your alts.

We don’t even know the price, it could be some irrelevant 50g trash item.

If it was something absurd like 500g or 1000g yea, id be mad too, id be right here with you complaining.
