Quick run down. I deleted a toon so i could rename an alt using the name change service. I tried to restore the toon I deleted(Ive done this before and it usually gives a free rename). I got an error, so I tried again and accidentally restored the wrong toon.
I put in a ticket.
Response I got was a bit contradictory,
“If the deleted character has the same name as an active character, you will need to delete or rename the active character before using the Undelete service.”
Later it also says “if you choose not to use any of those options right away, the deleted character will automatically be renamed randomly, so that you will then be able to recover them with the Undelete feature, and give them a new name.”

They closed the loophole for getting a free rename this way a couple of years ago.

I cant even pay to rename my deleted char, so my only option is to pay 3 times for name changes. Current char to something, restore old char/pay to rename, then rename my current char again. Doesn’t seem quite fair.
and that doesnt take into account I already paid, so I would be out $40 total.
You can contact support to help you swap names by paying for only two name changes, so I imagine you can get assistance from them to rectify whatever situation you are in. You just can’t do something like that with the standard renaming service. I would respond to the ticket again to explain what you want to do and the roadblock you are facing.

The toon undelete isn’t a means for a free rename, never had been meant to be used like that. Folks was abusing such and it was patch out years ago to stop such. If someone wanted to switch names, one’d have to pay for such.
and I would have paid the $20 to do that if I had known, but now to fix it I am stuck spending $40. 4x $10 transactions.
Try the ticket route. If they can help for cheaper that $40, they will.
