i had an unpleasant interaction with a player, whatever it happens. I put them on ignore only to be whispered seconds later by this same person and called sexually homophobic explicit slurs. I proceeded to then put this person on ignore and they switched to a third account and did the same. After that they ran out of accounts im guessing so they started having their guildies spam whisper me as well. I opened a ticket but my experience with these things has been lukewarm at best in the response i get…do i need screenshots? can blizzard do anything or do i just have to ride out this wave of toxic behavior until they wear themselves out?
Keep putting them on ignore DO NOT RESPOND IN ANY FORM OR ANOTHER I cant stress this enough and report everything you can open a ongoing harrassment ticket if you can prove 100% that you are not responding at all they will take action.
hmmm i did respond once or twice explaining that i was pretty sure this was actionable…and asking them to stop…but promptly put them on ignore. Why should this matter?
Because it looks like your encouraging them by showing them that your letting them get to you.
Why would that at all matter in regards to the rules about harassment?
Just trust me on this one.
Darth is correct. Report, ignore, move on. Do not respond to them. Blizz will handle it.
Because it does in the eyes of Blizzard. Don’t respond to them, keep ignoring as you have been. When you open ticket/s - be sure to mention on-going harassment and bypassing ignores.
good to know thx
It’s more of a way of them not being able to defend themselves by saying it is just banter between friends.
Some of my friends and I say things to one another that would get us punched in the face if said to someone else.
If you just say this Blizzard does look on it as you not wanting conversation with them. Don’t explain the rules to them. If they cared about the rules they wouldn’t be breaking them.
If BLizzard didn’t care they wouldn’t have done anything. They tried to help you by moving your characters. That was doing something.
Vivendi owned both Blizzard and Activision at the time. Activision had no say in how Blizzard was run.
The money argument is lame. The amount of money brought in by any guild is statistically insignificant. At the time there were over 10 million subscribers. Even if there was over 1000 members in that guild and they were all harassing you the money they added to Blizzard would barely show on the bottom line.
As for what Blizzared did nor did not do to the guild, you don’t know what Blizzard did. Any action was between them and Blizzard.
Your response to them may look like a conversation thus making outside the realm of harassment.
This is why they say don’t respond at all.
Sorta, yes. We’re not going to look at the chat and see a player saying “stop” and think they’re having a conversation. But, we do often see players bait each other and try to get one another in trouble for it.
So, as a rule of thumb we have an expectation that if you place someone on ignore and they bypass ignore to contact you then you should not respond to them once you realize it’s the same person. This builds a pretty solid case against an offender and keeps the events pretty clear.
That’s the philosophy behind the advice being offered
Please do file a support ticket if players are bypassing the in-game systems to continue harassment. It would fall under “Ongoing Harassment”
What he said.
