An affliction warlock is unable to complete their quest to get their artifact weapon because the quest requires the use of spells they don’t have access to, and pets they don’t have yet. Such as Demonic Gateway and the felhunter.
There is no work around, while the quest suggests the gateway the player is unable to cast or even use a loaner gateway.
The alt in question is level 12.
I had this problem as well. I had to skirt the extreme right edge of the fel tainted area and there I was able to cross it with a tiny bit of health left.
My husband’s Druid was tasked to go to Moonglade for his artifact weapon. His Druid does not have the Moonglade portal and there was no portal to Moonglade offered. I had to log in an under 50 character and physically fly him over there from Darkshore with my Sandstone Drake. My Level 50 couldn’t see him because he was in the Legion Timeline and as a level 50, there is no option for me to join it.

Actually you can it just isn’t very intuitive. If you check your quest text on the right hand side (objectives) a little Demon Gate icon appears you can click for a demon gate you can place during the quest. They do this for a couple of the Warlock weapon quests, giving you a temporary power. I did this on my level 12 Warlock the other day.
Why it didn’t appear in the middle of the screen like it does for other quests I don’t know but it is there.

Odd. It showed up on mine for that one and I think the one to get the Demo weapon. My friend had this same problem needing Solar Beam for his artifact weapon quest at low level and he had to search the the screen to find the little icon. Like I said, not the most intuitive way to do this for players, really needed to be more apparent.
Yeah I thought to check there and saw the icon, tried it and it made the “you’re pressing a button that does nothing” sound and nothing happened.
While I still think this is a “bug” because of how non-obvious it is and the other level related issues with legion content. It appears this may for some people be related to addons. However, normally my addons pop up an error if something goes wrong and that didn’t occur here.
Thanks for the info… the button wasn’t obvious and it didn’t work right away. But when I started to troubleshoot which addon might be interfering, the /reload seemed to work (and all addons were still enabled).
The frustrating part is that when all was said and done, the weapon I got as lvl 34 was ilvl 20 and not as powerful as my heirloom Grand Staff of Jordan (which was ilvl 39 and had significantly more Stamina, Haste, Intellect and some dps)… so much for being the powerful weapon against the Legion! lol…
i couldnt use the ability till i disabled all my addons but once used the ability i just turned them back on it is a easy fix
Came here because I also ran into this same issue. A quick /reload command fixed the button for me as well.
