Choosing Who you play with is NOT Gatekeeping

I like to play with myself. Is that toxic?

Sounds kinda hot

I am the biggest noob on the face of the earth and also play a rogue

For this reason I just form my own 5man groups. I have had better success filling the tank spot first and then going from there.

I do play on sulfuras so I guess I have it easier than many people on small realms, but if you play on a medium or large realm I have no sympathy at all for these complaints.

Exactly. The part people don’t know is forming a group is so easy and is faster than waiting for someone to invite you… People are just lazy.

I got booted from a group because I had to drink occasionally. They wanted to grind this dungeon as fast as possible until they hate it, then move on to the next one. That seems so not fun
Its not just about gear or levels. Gatekeeping in gamer slang means they want to use others, to fill a spot, to get what THEY want. BRING ON RDF

So if you don’t take someone in your party, and the next party doesn’t take them in, and then the next party doesn’t take them in, and so they decide to form their own party but no one joins because they aren’t a meta class or aren’t full sunwell geared, what then?

I had a Druid in Nexus today who was Feral specced, using int gear, and the only spell he cast was wrath while in elf form. No one tells him how to play.

All the people that are declined or people don’t join their groups all make friends and group together. I mean that would only work on same server here, but… that’s what I tell people.

I really hate the term gatekeeping because I feel like it is people giving their enjoyment into the hands of another.

gatekeeping is snuffing off a player for a myriad of ridiculous trolling reasons, i have quoted and requoted those ive experienced myself, and im tired of repeating myself to the thickheaded.

well apparently, according to the anti rdf people, you would be lying if you said that was your experience because that doesnt happen to them, so cant be a real thing.

Eltist Jerks isn’t a site anymore, however they’re still about it seems

I see you’re point, but if you’re just dragging players in, inspecting then being dicks about it, go you I guess, screw the fun out of experience.

Well I mean, the GM is the Game Director so…

wrong again genius boy. removing someone based on lack of gear, which they cant get becasue they keep getting removed for not having the gear that they want the run to get, is controlling and limiting general access to the run.

hence, GATEKEEPING. nice way to bite yourself in the but by admitting that you are gatekeeping while trying to justify your gatekeeping by saying its not gatekeeping.

RDF is bad.

I’ll tell you what I tell all the people over on retail who make this same complaint regarding Mythic + grouping…make. your. own. group.

Make your own group.

It works. I’m not on a megaserver. The megas love to call servers like mine “dead.” Nevertheless, we can form a 25-man pug in 10 minutes whenever we like. I have formed 5-mans in /1 for crying out loud…so if you actually use the LFG tool to list yourself…

Call it “DK LFG Dungeon X–chill run for quest xp” or “DK LFG Dungeon X–full clear for max cloth drops. I keep all the Frostweave.” Whatever you want, make the listing and people will join you.

There is no gate.
There is no gatekeeper.
Make. Your. Own. Groups.

Edited to add: Unless what you really want is to have people who are playing at a super high level carry you and call them jerks for not wanting to do that.

If what you truly want is free access to the server’s community to make groups for activities on your server…you have it. That doesn’t mean that everyone who posts a group on the finder has to take you. It means that you can ask to join any group on the finder and you can make any kind of group on the finder you want to make.

If making your own group isn’t appealing to you because you only want to run with people in T6 gear…who’s the gatekeeper, now?

what’s wrong with having the best expansion The way it was just like classic and tbcc was??

I actually appreciate when people put dumb requirements on their groups. It helps me avoid bad players that think they need BiS to do content thats intended for noobs in quest gear.
