Well I’m a druid so obviously I’m going to pick the super mega forest faction
For me I already have 2 characters and 1 that im going to make.
For me I’m going to send my Pandaren Monk to Night Fae, because my panda is all about preserving nature and thing like that, then my NE DH to the Venthyr, since it fits with the class, and lastly a Orc Warlock that I’m going to make to the Necrolord, because (again) of the class.
FACEPALM…
i dont think you undestand the whole covenant system at all…
YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO USE ANOTHER COVENANT’S ABILITY, unless you want to change your covenant which will come at a steep price. Its a semi permanent choice.
There is no situational thing about it… you get what you pick and thats final
I’m just not gonna do it if the covenant ability is only good for one spec and one game type. If I want to be locked in to only one style I’ll go play D&D at the local game store. Hell, even there they’d let me switch characters if we really needed it.
Unfortunately, history shows that Blizzard will barrel ahead with a bad idea until it blows up in their face. So what’s likely to happen is they’ll waste development time throughout the expansion trying to completely balance the covenant abilities and then make them mostly useless.
What could be a really awesome thing will be ruined by the insistence on adding throughput abilities.
I totally understand it and I think it is a stupid decision if it makes its way into arena.
TLDR: Night Fae and their zone breaks Druid lore and I’m p!ssed about it.
I’m torn. So here’s my dilemma right now. My Druid has been considered my main since the middle of WoD. So about 4-5 years now. I love my Druid. He’s probably my favourite character. I’ve had several mains over the years; notably my Mage and Warlock; but my Druid has been the most recent, and has stayed so for quite some time now. I love everything Druid lore (as well as other lore for other classes. DK and Mages especially) but I hate that you’re ruining the lore for new lore.
I love the thought of the Night Fae, and I think the zone looks gorgeous. When they were flashing the covenants/zones on the screen I immediately said “Yep, that’s the one” when I first saw it. (Second being the Vampires… So stoked for them. Can’t wait to get my DK in there.)
But Cenarius, and the Wild Gods simply return to the Emerald Dream when they die. They can be visited by and communicate with the Druids that protect the Emerald Dream. This has been the lore forever. That’s just how it worked. They returned to the Emerald Dream and were able to be re-awakened into the living world by Druid rituals. (As seen during Cata when we bring several back to life. Including Malorne, and Cenarius)
But now you’re just ignoring all that for the sake of new lore? Wild Gods, and Cenarius pass on to the after life now? What? The Emerald Dream is the opposing force to the Shadowlands. How do you justify that they simply hop between them at will? Seems silly to me.
So I’m having a hard time getting excited to go to a lore breaking zone and learn about lore breaking story. You also said that we’d be seeing Cenarius there? But the dude’s not dead. We revived him in Cata, and then cleansed him in Legion.
So now you’re saying that the Wild Gods, and nature spirits can travel to and from the world of the dead now as well as the Emerald Dream?
Stop trying to break lore for new story. Please read your current lore and stick with that. Follow what you’ve already established.
Can’t vote without having more knowledge of the benefits of each candidate, because there is always one option that is best for class and spec no matter how hard you folks try.
I understand that you want to make covenants unique and impactful, but it really sucks that you decided to make the class specific ability so core.
Once more a dumb decision of Blizzard, another expansion they must change all the classes after the expansion is gone. Because of this they will never bring balance for the classes and specs and because of this all the specs and classes looks broken. One expansion should never change the core of the classes, each expansion should improve the classes not rebuild them.
I wish we could divorce the roleplay/story from the specific powers. I will choose the powers I prefer, though I’d rather choose the story I prefer.
Necrolord
That whole concept of being an undead force that’s not necessarily evil sounds perfect for the DK I’m planning to main in Shadowlands. I’ll also have my Mag’har warrior and Zandalari monk join these guys, too.
For my warlock and demon hunter, it’s going to be the Venthyr, obviously. I’ll also have this paladin join them, since he’s a pretty cruel dude that prefers executing evil people over protecting innocents from them.
Let us get these covenants as neutral races.
That aside, definitely Venthyr.
I’m waiting to see which covenant will give me the best wings. Gotta make an informed decision!
Its obvious that the best wings are the skeletal ones from the Necrolords. If the Venthyr displayed perhaps bat wings, that would be a close second, but all we saw there was a coffin.
Thematically I like Bastion for my Paladin, Night Fae for my Hunter, and Necrolord for my DK.
Practically speaking, without knowing what abilities all four covenants supply for each class, I have no idea which I’ll be choosing.
I will either be choosing Necrolords or Venthyr. I will most likely be choosing Necrolords unless Venthyr adds throughput bonuses that heavily outweigh Necrolords. At least for this toon.
My paladin will definitely be Bastion, and my mage will probably be either Venthyr or Night fae
I’m not evil… I just really really like the undead.
I’m on the border between Necrolord and Night Fae.
I was 100% onboard with Necrolord when they just showed the aestetics, but the concept of the Night Fae being that of death, deacy, and rebirth (Winter/Spring)… It feels like if has a direct overlap with DKs, and I like that.
Well, I just learned that Necrolords allow you to build your own Abomination bodyguard to follow you around in their zone. The decision has been made, I need another undead minion following me around. No amount of power is going to tempt me away from this.
Whichever covenant produces the highest dps according to sims.
This is what I will do for my main, no matter how interesting they look. I do intend to experience them all on my Alts.

This would be cool for solo world content. I will be looking at dungeon and raid DPS to determine my Covenant.
I’m not sure which will be my favorite, but I’m most interested in the Night Fae and Kyrian factions. Both have awesome potential. My priest will definitely go with Kyrian, no matter what my favorite might be.
