"Choices Should Matter."

I love the way you gleefully state that. It’s almost like you want to watch the forums burn.

The complaint is that the covenant gives them nothing valuable in terms of power because the ability sucks but they want to pick it because it appeals to them.

The choice there isn’t being optimal or not. It’s about getting anything useful or not.

Ralph is only happy once everyone is playing the game his way and his way alone and only that way because his way is the “right” way to play.

How dare you enjoy other playstyles and other ways of doing content than his way.

Only tryhards call abilities they dont like “it sucks”

Sorry but all abilities work for different scenarios, if you arent smart or skilled enough to utilize it well then that sounds like a personal problem

Well I am fine with choices mattering in a story sense, like with the class choice in Legion, and would like your race to play a bit more of a factor than just heritage armor too.

These changes are extremely hard for them to balance so they throw in the towel with it.

Ralph here, back with more Grand Delusion procs!

Except there are actual abilities that are hot garbage from the very start in some covenants. They’re just outright bad.

bad players usually call things that dont give them instant huge advantages bad, even venthyr mage ability is rly good for specific scenarios and will also work in pve

That’s funny coming from you, who can’t even clear Mythic. You also really like bad design so it makes sense you don’t understand bad when it’s obvious.

There are some abilities that are nice in theory but the way it actually works is completely garbage. Like the Night Fae Druid ability. In no way will that be better than any other ability in any situation.

So you’re saying that it’s okay as long as Blizzard keeps adding these niche scenarios where one covenant is a clear winner? That’s terrible game design. Instead, they should design a game where multiple solutions are viable and just as effective.

Quoting yourself as proof of something isn’t proof.

Now give Blizz some credit they have been balancing things since Nov. 23, 2004

Did I say that with a straight face

Corruption turned out to be more balanced than people thought. When they were announced everyone said the best would be +crit damage. Then it went live and everyone freaked out over infinite stars. Now most people are building stat amps, but there are still plenty of viable builds for each spec.

Corruption is balanced for everyone who’s not at the top, if you look at the DPS charts there is a group of specs who get so much more from corruption than others that it’s pretty unfair.

Probably because it doesn’t matter. You can change in any Rested area, so what’s it matter if there’s only one right choice? Why waste the development time when there’s not going to be any outcry about dead talents?

It’s horrible, and that shouldn’t be the case, but that’s my view.

Excellent point.

I think the MMO RPG genre is where the restrictive punishments don’t fit in.

Single player RPG’s make more sense - especially in terms of replayability.

But in an MMO RPG, we’ll have replayability throughout the 2 year expansion built into the game. There’s no need to restrict being able to switch around.

It does matter when their lack of doing so invalidates their goal of giving us “meaningful choices”.

It only ends up supporting the idea that “meaning” behind the covenant system is really more focused on a punitive system rather than one that actually gives players choice. Especially when the punitive restrictions reinforce a “meta” mentality in the game.

Uhhhhhh

They literally always nerf the bosses after the RWF and usually again a few weeks later because of this reason.

Yes, that is how the content is balanced.
