Data is data, quite cool. I am not registered as either party⌠and I am old. Quite old. Retired level old. I am not even an active voter.
None of what you said applies to me at all
Q: I had 2 grape lolipops and 3 green apple pops.

What are the societal influences which made me chose the green lolipop hmmm erm ah yess hmmmm must have been some random event in 1776 intellectual hmmm hmmm
We got one thing in common.
I am not politically active. Never have been. I also donât belong to a church, follow any bands, cheer for any teams, etc. I am not much of a the type to join a group.
More in common!
Most of my favorites are almost dead!
Vikings and Avalanche here.
Texas is a highly diverse place. Itâs almost split and people need to stop using it as some conservative scape goat. Itâs nearly 48/52; in fact, if not for people moving here, the locals are more likely to vote blue than red, itâs the people moving here from other states keeping it red. We also harbor some of (and actually the most with Houston) diverse cities in the country. People are migrating here in mass not away from. The growth is actually insane.
Not being an immense drama queen makes you political now, unfortunately.
These are the same forums that were enraged at 16 year old paintings they didnât know existed being replaced. Not even considering that all their outrage did was fuel clicks for the websites that âbrokeâ the story. Anger is good business and the easily triggered are the cash cows of the internet.
You asked about consequences of Trump possibly lying about his heritage. I explained his family did lie about their heritage to avoid the anti-German sentiment around the World Wars. WHY exactly did they feel they had to do that? I donât know.
I further stated, that nobody cared that Trumpâs family, and DJT, lied about their heritage for a very long time. Consequences for things are not always evenly applied.
Hello fellow lurkers who are just here to watch the Circus Act.
Yeah, but the government is pulling out all the tricks to manipulate the districts to deny power to non-republicans. Like how when I lived in Austin the city was split into a bunch of congressional districts so they could run them out into the countryside to avoid having the state capital have the representation that it would choose.
That and the actions by the state government to overreach into the lives of its citizens. From the blatantly unconstitutional run around on abortion (SCOTUS already ruled a state govât can not hand off enforcement power of its laws to private citizens or groups) And the governor and AGâs orders from on high to mandate the abuse of children who need certain medical care.
Hopefully the growth can help overcome the gerrymandering as that tends to be fragile so as to get as much power out of as few voters as possible, so it tends to be susceptible to swings if something goes wrong.
The people of Texas can be great, unfortunately they have a horrible government who wants to oppress as much as it can.
False equivalence to begin with. Was he a member of the National Socialist party or just another refugee fleeing from that nut?
I thought that was silly that they changed it, until I found out they asked the staff who had been impacted what they felt needed to change. I have no idea why it was important to someone, but they are the ones who worked there so I can deal with that. It is not like it changes the game for me or anything. It is worth it to listen to staff.
Outrage culture absolutely drives click which drives engagement and MONEY. Media does not care if it is right, wrong, false, true. They only care if they cash in on it.
People always did love a good trainwreck. Even executions drew crowds
About to hit you with some whataboutism but here goes; all states gerrymander including democratic strong holds. Some prominent northeast states this year have redistricted their states to further entrench power towards blue for at least a decade to come. You are right, but gerrymandering is a political system they all do.
Edit: it is funny you mention Austin, as I tell wifey our vote really doesnât matter on a local level since things are so danged gerrymandered everywhere that local power tend to stay in power.
Iâm in MD now, and we had our plan halted by courts, but I like the opinion Iâve heard attributed to them âWeâll stop doing it when they doâ Unilateral disarmament doesnât help anyone.
Iâm just saying that the problem people have with Texas isnât particularly all the people, but the way the government there treats the people of Texas.
Honestly Iâm amazed that as a media company they didnât have a position for this prior to now. Thatâs like the go to insurance policy against stepping in it for companies that are much smaller than Actiblizz. Itâs not even about appealing to people, itâs having someone who can say âhey maybe donât do thatâ as a way to protect the company.
If theyâd had one before, they might have avoided the lawsuits currently in play.
No one pays for a student loan but the person. The government just takes the place of the creditor. The only time anyone else pays for it is if the government waves that loan via certain repayment plans, or they work for the government, or the military. You have no clue what you are even talking about. Pretty normal for you given your lame jokes too.
You have no idea how many meetings they have to stay awake for. Pity them.
This is the issue, and Iâm confident it wonât be solved in my lifetime and Iâm not even that old (late 30âs). New York all but eliminated a few of their very minority red seats with the new redistricting. People donât want opposition they want complete power. Two party system is wack anyway. As someone who hold strong views on both âsidesâ of the argument, itâs complicated. For all of the complexities of life here we stand in a binary system where even within the democratic blue side you have vastly different factions of thought.
Reminds me in many ways of big brother- to get anything done you have to pool power with people you donât even like or agree with or nothing gets done. It just naturally curves to two dominating sides. Iâm curious how long itâll be until we see them fracture.
Sigh Trumpâs Grandfather left Bavaria (now part of Germany) in the late 1880âs to seek a new life and escape poverty. He attempted to return to Bavaria later but was banished by the King in 1905 for failure to complete his original military service.
Trumpâs father, a US born citizen, made up the story of being Swedish instead of German to avoid the anti German sentiment around the World Wars. DJT, continued that lie for a long time.
It had nothing to do with a particular party. It had to do with not appearing to have anything to do with Germany because they were the aggressors in two world wars.
Point is , people lie about heritage - except in his case nobody cared. You asked if people would care if he lied and the answer is they did not care.
