Chief Diversity,Equity, and Inclusion Officer

I alway rooted for reality because reality always wins.

20 years experience in a corporate environment. That’s experience and qualification. You leaning on skin color is just the cherry on top of the cake.

it says i dont have the time to re explain but here we go. i said it was ironic because of your post referencing victim hood while the entire position was only ever created because of that very thing. Now moving on lol will do this all day im sure.

you are correct lol

It was created out of a legal necessity. Are you just going to pretend like people weren’t actually oppressed? Are people going to have to reteach you basic history?

your right, my comment was never about her hiring, I’m sure she is qualified…with how much blizz is under the microscope they couldn’t afford otherwise. my comments where directed at the employees she will eventually hire and how that seems to play out in todays social norms. Skin color shouldn’t matter, you are literally saying that by constantly referencing her experience. Her whole position adds skin color into the equation and its sad that’s needed at all. Ok now im really leaving lol

I’ve actually done it many times in person and not one person has tried to stop me. I dare you to be one of those that tries. See what happens. Freedom of speech, and freedom to EASILY deal with someone who would dare try it.

Yep, it started with Occupy Wallstreet. Corporations figured out if they say the right things and check all the boxes the left mostly leaves them alone.

I think you care more about skin color… it’s always the people like yourself in these type of threads that seem like the more… never mind. what’s the other thread like this one going? Right of the bat somebody says, and I’m paraphrasing “that’s the most white thing I’ve ever heard”. Common place statement around here lately.

Anyway, it’s not really about that, it’s just a question of weather it’s coming from the right place. If they are hiring her just to try and satisfy some people, which seems incredibly likely, then to me that is actually just insulting…and concerning.

Do people not agree with that? Obviously not, I guess. If you ask me, all this pandering, it’s just insincere, and just a bunch of virtue signaling. Take “black lives matter”, for example, do black people really need some random soccer mom with a sticker on her car standing up for them, like they get what they are going through? WTF…I would never go up to one of my black friends and be like “bruh, black lives matter! hell yeah” Well no sh*t, and what do I know. And who’s asking for my sympathy?

So some white dude probably hired this lady as a tool to satisfy some people. Now be happy about it.

And just like that, self-inflicted blunt force chest injury overtook Covid hospitalizations.

Considering one of the things that Blizzard were sued for were people being passed over on promotions due to race and gender, seems like a DIE Officer would probably help with that.

Not even that per se but rather to broaden their horizons to being willing to hire that. Everything you said is still true. By and large job postings for any job people actually want already have a candidate and HR is just checking a box to say ‘they tried’ when they select their preferred candidate.

Oh god this is wrong… not even a bit wrong but massively wrong. Women actually used to be a majority in Computer Science and software engineering and they were until ~1985. At which point the field began to change dramatically as salaries for computer scientists rose rapidly and it became “men’s work” overnight. The only change was the pay, men weren’t interested when it didn’t pay well. As soon as it began to pay suddenly it was no longer OK to hire a woman to do the job.

But some of the foremost computer scientists were women.

Funny thing when you read this article:

All of the programmers of ENIAC… were women.

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you’re allowed to be a bigot.

Well, it kinda does. You do you I guess.

Your freedom ends where basic human rights for others begins.

There is no “stop me” lol, because you wouldn’t START in a public setting in the first place.

And even if you did, I’m sure they just looked down upon you. Decided you weren’t worth the trouble. Humans try to avoid conflict, and those that cause it are problems for all others.

The “f- your feelings” crowd is always hilarious to me, because they are the ones always being most vocal about their feelings being hurt.

Just being yourself causes them to get all bent out of shape, and it’s great. Never stop.

My biggest ponder is why do you need these kind of people at your office? In Europe we really don’t mind or care wether you are woman, man or trans. Just do your job and be civil. Or is that it? You have too many opinions in your west State?

Well, of course. She’s an incredibly smart PR move. However, that doesn’t make her unqualified which is something a lot of people seem to be missing. She’s a candidate with a proven track record in her field and a wealth of experience, who not only can bring the changes they need but looks good from a PR Standpoint as well.

That’s the thing. The “Best Candidate” for a job is about more than just being the most qualified. They have to mesh with the company and also be a good fit for their aims and goals. She’s got the experience AND she makes Blizzard look better.

Two tings can be true, but people dismissing her as just a diversity hire are doing her a disservice.

Freedom of speech means nothing more than “the Government can’t put me in jail for what I say” and even that has a “terms and conditions may apply” label on it.

Anything who stretches it further than that is dumb as hell.

Because Americans are sheltered and too full of ourselves. We stir up drama because of boredom, mostly.

So in other words you do know how to behave, but you are bombarded by too much information on all sides so nobody has time to adjust and check reality?
