NOTHING related to current immigrants in the past 10 years has anything to do with DACA.
DACA pulls undocumented folks who came here as kids long ago (no crime on their part) and lets them legally work with proper wages and benefits.
The ones that illegal crossings benefit is the corporations - slaughterhouses, farms, dairy, fruit harvest, construction, hotel/service industry, dishwashers, etc. All those are filled with cheap illegal labor that keeps prices down and profits up - so both parties turn a blind eye. They talk big, or small, but they donât want to seriously address it becuase they know we donât have the native (citizen) labor to fill those spots.
To me the right answer is identifying the open jobs and opening up legal visas for them so those jobs get done, and the people get paid fair wages for the term of the employment. Seasonal jobs are common for this.

I mostly agree with your last response. The truth of not having the native labour for those positions, is local folks will hold employers to a standard the desperate folks will not. There is no shortage of labour, just a shortage of human decency.
We canât pretend that today, right now, the president isnât actively inviting slave labour.

While I might not have been the most extreme on here, I know was was off on one side a bit.
Funny thing is I really wasnât responding to the OPs discussion, I was responding more to the others responding to the op (when things got derailed.
So to be fair, I donât have ANY issue with this woman being hired, and am genuinely happy for her (unless she comes out and protects evil people full of hate on either side of the political spectrum) I am at least a bit opposed to this type of specific position and why others feel itâs needed.
She is the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer. The ultimate goal of this role is to ensure an equitable work environment for all employees. Absolutely nothing she does has anything to do with ensuring a safe work environment.
Furthermore many of us have a problem with hiring people based upon immutable characteristic.
If the article had read that she was the new head of HR and had a doctorate in X with 25 years experience in other companies and here are the metrics to show that she improved project completion rates, while decreasing turnover and employee complaints than there would be no complaints.
Instead we see âlook we are hiring black people and womanâ Why because they are black and a woman⌠Not because they will help the company succeed. Hiring because of immutable characteristics and not based upon their merits is racist and sexist.
And that is what your seeing here. Two different generation/political sides/values (however you want to categorize it) that define racism in almost completely opposite ways.

Which is exactly what I was saying.
They used racists views to hire a person to fulfill a position whos only role is to promote racism and sexism. Thats a problem.
Hire some more customer service reps and programmers who have experience. Iâd be happy with that. If those people happen to be woman or black hey thats great (I guess I really donât care) if not your company is still going to be better.

There is not one mention of the words âblackâ or âwomanâ in the whole thing.
She has over 20 years experience and has been in similar roles before.
The post also says this

How is that not making it a safe workplace for everyone?

That is why I see the thread and the news irrelevant , a means to draw attention that only the company sees Woke, the rest do not care what this matter is due to.

Will she be dealing with OSHA?
Will she be creating company polices to ensure there are fewer paper cuts?
I donât know maybe its because the industry I work in has the very real possibility of fatalities we have a vastly different view of safety.
Nope only a picture that is larger than any of the paragraphs front and center. These photos are usually at the end of articles and far smaller not before you even start reading the article. With talk about backgrounds. Is it explicitly stated? Nope but its not hard to read between the lines.

I think everyone is reading different things, i personally have issue with the role and the content of the article,
I used to argue with American back then, i think its about a University (Yale i think?) where they made it so Asian student have harder time to enter.
My argument is that itâs racism, the American argument is that itâs equality (or is it equity now?).
Donât get me wrong, i donât have issue with racism, my problem is with people arguing that itâs not.

Sadly the people we often find ourselves arguing with on these forums are too far gone.
They are so out of touch they believe that they know what is better for the game than actual qualified professionals. Itâs unreal.
