Gilneas left because it did not want to pay for the interment camps. Kul Tiras was still part of the Alliance until Daelin was killed at Theramore and the ‘Alliance’ did nothing to stop it, nor avenge his death. Mainly because Jaina allowed it to happen since her father refused to see reason and the fact that Daelin was the aggressor.

He was a metaphor for the Player Experience of choosing to be Horde during MoP - by then end, we were beaten and had the Alliance there to save us and laugh at us for being Horde and getting what was coming to us.

So even though Ji is basically like wall paper…. he has been bruised by Blizzard for being Horde. I can relate.
